Hello, make sure the filter, blower wheel, and evaporator coil is clean as this can reduce air flow. If the airflow appears ok then the unit may be low on refrigerant, sometimes leaks develop on the schreader valves and they just need to be replaced.
Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. The first thing to check is the filter in the furnace or air handler. Also check the inside coil to be sure its not frozen up. Does the air coming out feel cold? It sounds like the unit could be low on charge which means it has a leak and should be leak checked repaired and properly charged. You would need refrigeration gauges to put on the system in order to properly check the refrigerant charge in the system. One other thing could be a dirty condenser coil. Turn the power off to the unit and use a garden hose with a strong nozzle and spray water through the whole coil to try and blow any dirt or debris through the condenser coil in the outside unit.
Yes, hose needs to connect to outdoors, since it operates as a heat pump. You'll notice cold air blowing out the exhaust when in heating mode, and hot air blowing out the exhaust in cooling mode - unit exhausts opposite of temperature you want.
Check and make sure the filter is clean. This sounds like a restriction in the system. If the unit has central cooling make sure ther indoor evaporator coil is clean at the furance.The unit may be cycling the burners on and off at the high heat limit , fan/limit control. You can also eliminate the thermostst from the furance. Turn power off at the furnace and disconnect the wiring from the thermostat. Jumper the red and white wire together. Turn the furnace back on. The furance should run in the heating mode. Try this and see if the problem is still there.
Your thermostat Function 0170 must be set to "1" for Single Stage Heat/Cool. Function 0180 must be set for "0" for Heating Fan Control. Function 0240 must be set for "5" for the Heating Cycle Rate for your <90% Gas Furnace. If you have already done these steps or if, after doing these steps, you continue to experience a problem, you problem could be with your Gas Furnace. If it does not have a furnace or heating elements for heating, then it is a heat pump, which is rare for a central AC system, but makes sense of the fact that it blows warm air when you reset the pressure switch, which may indicates freon pressure charge problem if your AC system has a reverse valve and uses freon to for heating (heat Pump).
Do you get heating when outside unit runs? if you do, check freon pressure levels and top up to required pressures. The button you depress is a pressure reset switch ... that is if your AC system is a heat pump ... which, as pointed above, it is not common for central ACs.
if the ac outside is working, but not the furnace, means there is a control problem with the furnace, check wires in the furnace, make sure there is a blower wire plugged into the contact marked cool on the control panel of the furnace
Change the furnace filter. Make sure you use a cheap one when air conditioning, as the better ones restrict airflow when they filter out so much stuff and then plug up, not allowing enough air to pass over the cooling coil in the furnace's air plenum. Turn the A/C off for a few hours (with only the furnace fan on if possible) to melt the ice off the cooling unit inside the furnace.
