Can I sync 2 phones on the same computer w/o sharing information?

My son and I both have treo centros. I would love to be able to back up both of our phones on the same computer without sharing our calendars, contacts, memos, etc. I use Outlook for mine so I can also sync at work. He does not currently sync on any other computer. I tried messing around with the Palm Desktop for him and Outlook for me with no success.
Can this be done?

    Thanks for responding Ken!

I hooked up his phone, it automatically gave it a different name than mine. I let it sync and it added all of my info to his phone. I was able to put the computer back to my settings from an "handset over rides desktop" setting.

    What did I miss?

I will have to look into this, because as far as I know, the UserID controls what data is synced. Question. Are you using the same PC login? Also, are you syncing to Outlook? you may have to log in as a different user, sync to Palm Desktop, or simply have a different outlook profile loaded at the time of sync. Combining on ofr more of these should do the trick.

Sure you can. You just have to pick a unique ID for his during the first sync. If he already has an ID, then there is no problem. If you want to change any ID easily, get changename. It's an easy ID changer. For more info, great tips and discussion of and accessories for the Treo, goto mytreo.net

Copy Contacts from Palm Centro to SIM Card

When I migrated from my Palm Centro (best smartphone ever) to my current BlackBerry, I did the following: 1) Export Palm contacts from the Palm Desktop software to CSV (comma separated values or tab-delimited text) format. 2) Import the CSV file to your Google Contacts account. 3) Wirelessly sync Google Contacts to your new phone using the free Google Sync app (link below). 4) Verify data was transferred appropriately.
Google Sync details: http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/
You should be able to follow the same process for your Palm Calendar by exporting your Palm Calendar from the Palm Desktop software to a file (save the exported file to your desktop, or an easy to find location on your computer), then import the Calendar file into a NEW Google Calendar, not your primary calendar (in case there's conflicts or problems, you can delete the secondary Google calendar without losing your primary Google calendar items). Google Sync should allow you to choose more than one Google Calendar to sync with your new phone.

Centro handheld won't sync with Desktop Calendar

Reinstalling the software would probably be the best Idea. If you need the calendar bad enough you could always do a full backup with a third party program onto the SD card, then do a hard reset. Maybe it's a problem with the Centro.

Palm Centro - continous Syncing problem, now phone is dead

This happened to my palm centro and i fixed it myself. :) Maybe it will work for you. What i did was take out the battery and so the phone is completely off.. then take a tooth brush with rubbing alchohol on it and scrubbed the bottom part of it that the hotsync cord goes into.. I thought this may just mess up my phone more but i plugged it back into the power cord, turned it on and it worked just fine!! Seriously, try this out. It brought me so much relief!! And chances are you either got some **** stuck up inside there, or you got the botton part wet. Hope i helped!!

Palm Centro locked

If you forget the password, the only way to get back in is to perform a "hard reset." Performing a hard reset causes you to loose all data on your phone unfortunately (numbers, texts, and all). Hopefully you've sync-ed up your data on your computer recently.

To perform a hard reset, do the following:
1 - Remove the battery cover.
2 - Take out the battery.
3 - Put the battery back in. An orange Palm logo will appear on your screen.
4 - While the logo is showing, press & hold the Power/End button until a black status bar appears on the screen, fills completely, and then goes away. Then you can stop pressing the button.
5 - Next on your screen will be a prompt to erase all data. Press up to say Yes.
6 - Next select your language and you have an empty phone to start a new. If you've previously sync-ed up your data, you can sync up now and add it all back.

Good luck!
