"Error 1068 Could not start the Printer Spooler on local Computer"

Hiya, I've recently had a problem with my printer, when I try to print something, it says I don't have one installed. I've tried to reinstall my printer, but when I try to uninstall it, it comes up with the error message "Processing cannot be continued because the printer spooler service has been stopped. Restart the system to start the printer spooler service, then try again" My Printer Spooler is definity at Automatic, because I already phoned them and my settings seemed to be correct. However, when i try to start the printer spooler the error message of: "Error 1068 Could not start the Printer Spooler on local Computer" comes up. will someone try help me resolve my problem? thanks very much :o)

Aww thanks for the solution :).
Sorry I forgot to mention, my printer is a Canon Pixma iP 1200. It didn't have my product of Fixya when I looked for it lol.

    Hello,

I've tryed to uninstall Canon, but the error message of

"Processing cannot be continued because the printer spooler service has been stopped. Restart the system to start the printer spooler service, then try again".

Would I be able to do the solution but stuill with my canon printer installed?

O yeah, and when I go to Printers and Faxes, my printer is not listed there but it is definity installed on my computer.

awww hopefully not :( I thought it might have been a small microsoft error that i could fix in a few mins :(.

Erm I've got various software like a personal firewall and spyware scans but i've cancelled my virus scanner because of the cost.

I've recently had a techinian round though to fix a netgear problem and he scanned my computer last week.

I had the same problem and discovered I had my Zone Alarm set to maximum in the internet security zone. Dropped it back to medium and the printer works. Been working on this thing for two days and the solution was that simple.

Just to add to CoachTim's excellent solution, i find that removing the printer from the usb port as well as turning it off helps. But make sure you uninstall printer completely from add/remove programmes and check in the folder after that there is no canon printer listed. download this UK driver http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0024838.asp?model= Restart your pc before re installing and re connecting printer.

Http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=357&modelid=10238 Above is the Canon site with the newest drivers available. Download them and install them. First "delete" the printer from print properties. Unplug the printer from the wall for a few minutes and shutdown the computer. Plug the printer in and reboot the machine. Install the new drivers. You are in a loop. definition of LOOP: see LOOP. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim

Have you tried stopping the service from within administration properties? disable it? Have you tried running Virus scan? I had a machine I was working on last week that a virus was somehow affecting the print spooler. It was hidden with an HP .exe file. I finally removed the virus and the printer was fine.

    Just another thought

    Good Luck

Go to filehippo.com and download a FREE virus protection. I use Avast and have for several years. You can get all kinds of decent software there to use/try/USE

    Good Luck,

Even another thought? Was your printer working before the technician adjusted the netgear? You might check your firewall settings or even the spyware settings to allow the printing program.

Hi i have aprob my computer say the printer spooler cannot running error 1068

Check for other Service Dependencies A 1068 is a service dependency error. Print Spooler can't start because it thinks a service it depends on is not running.

shortcut: start-run-"services.msc"

Go into services and check its dependencies, it should just be the RPC service, which you shouldn't be able to stop, check that RPC is running

Double click print spooler and click the dependencies tab. See if there are any other dependencies set besides rpc. If so you will want to find them in services and make sure they are set to automatic and are running (will probably need to start them).

Then try to start "Print Spooler" service, should work. May need to reinstall printer drivers then.

I appreciate the opportunity to help you. Try the following:

Check dependency services on Print Spooler
================================
1.Click "Start", input "services.msc" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter".
2.Double click the “Print Spooler” service.
3.Choose “Dependencies” Tab and remember the services name.
4.In the service list window, find the dependency services and try to start them.
5.Please try to start the “Print Spooler” service again.

See if this helps. If it does, please fill in the rating of my service to you. Thanks for using Fixya.com

HI,
right click on my computer -> select manage -> one should be services and something (or something like that) open that and go to services -> find the printer spool service and right click on it -> click on properties -> in the printer spool service properites click the "Start" button and also under a drop down menu change it from "Disabled" to "Automatic".... This is what you did right ?

Log in to Administrator account and try it there. If that doesn't work then install a fresh copy of Windows Xp. It should work now. Thank you.

HP print spooler problem and error 1068. Want my printer back!!!

hi! Print Spooler is actually a service for your Operating system-
Try this

Click on start and click on run
in the open box type in services.msc and your services local window should open, scroll down and look for print spooler, highlight it and do a right click and on the dropdown menu left click on stop and it will go to a process of stopping the service and then right click back and click on start. if you get an error message about print spooling or spooler, then that means you have a problem with the operating system. call or go to microsoft help and support online in that case. and RPC server unavailable error has something to do with a network printer. but i believe you setup the printer locally.
