From my experience you may be having a memory problem that is more than just a problem with reseating. When you reseated the ram did you pull the ram out and try one stick at a time? Or trying a different stick all together. I have had several go through the shop in the last year that I had to replace the ram in. Most were the 510e series but there were others as well. If you have more than one stick try just one at a time and in different slots. Also if you have plugin cards you my try unplugging them as well. When you said the beep codes changed by reseating the ram that makes me suspect the ram. Good luck and hope that helps....

My presario 1600 just beeps when I turn it on...

there are 4 kinds of beeps that the pc produce when you turn it on, base on your beep it is indicating that the memmory is damage,

a single beep means the pc is ok
and your beep is memmory damage
a long beep pause and then beep long again means video card damage
if the beep sound like a firetruck the processor or memmory is over heating

The monitor is not worth fixing and I recommend replacement. The good news is that you've confirmed the problem is not with the computer!

it appears that this is a memory problem, based on the codes that you specified.

4 beeps is RAM read/write failure

if you recently installed new RAM (memory) you should check to be sure that it is compatible. If not, you might just have a loose memory stick.

just remove and re-install memory modules making certain to seat them firmly.

!!!! Very important ..before touching memory.. be sure to discharge any static from your body - by touching anything grounded (I usually leave my tower plugged into a grounded outlet and make sure the rocker switch to the for the power supply(the switch on the back of the computer) is turned off.

Computer problem

during these beeps there should be pause between them at some point...in other words you may get 2 beeps/pause/1beep/pause/2 beeps noting the number of beeps and where the pauses are will help. From what you are describing and without more info it sounds as if you are describing beep codes, and they generally can give us a lot of information.

Your Monitor is not connected properly
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/wireless.mspx

Connecting Your Monitor
1. Turn off your computer and unplug the power cord.
2. Connect the white connector end of the DVI cable attached on the monitor to the connectors on the computer.
3. Connect the USB cable that was included with your monitor to the computer and the upstream USB connector on the monitor. Once this cable is connected to the computer and the monitor, you can use the USB downstream on the monitor.
4. Connect any USB devices.
5. Connect the power cord.
6. Turn on your monitor and computer. If you do not see an image, see Troubleshooting Your Monitor.

NOTE: The Monitor will display full screen in White, Black, Red, Green and Blue color rolling pattern on screen if the DVI cable is not connected. This self test pattern will be displayed continually when Monitor detects that DVI cable from Monitor to PC is not connected.

* Check connection integrity at both ends of the video cable.
* Ensure the monitor and computer are plugged in to a working electrical outlet.
* Ensure power button is depressed fully.
