allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
this error message should not stop being able to enter bios your keyboard might be the problem you might need a ps2 to usb keyboard adapter which plugs into the keyboards ps2 inlet and has a usb plug if you are using the keyboard via the usb port your computer is not getting the messages sent by the keyboard
click start control panel administrative tools computer management then select event viewer this may vary depending on what operating system you have

NTFS Partition
1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Services.
2. Select the Event Log service and click Start up. Change the Start up Type to Disabled, and then click OK. If you are unable to log on to the computer but can access the registry remotely, you can change the Start up value in the following registry key to 0x4:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog
3. Restart Windows.
NOTE: When the system starts up, several services may fail; a message informing the user to use Event Viewer to review errors may appear.
4. Rename or move the corrupt *.evt file from the following location:
%SystemRoot%\System32\Config
5. In Control Panel Services tool, re-enable the Event Log service by setting it back to the default of Automatic start up, or change the registry Start up value back to 0x2.
FAT partition (Alternative method)
1. Boot to a MS-DOS prompt using a DOS bootable disk.
2. Rename or move the corrupt *.evt file from the following location:
%SystemRoot%\System32\Config
3. Remove the disk and restart Windows.
When Windows is restarted, the Event Log file will be recreated.
also
a fresh install will remove the error log
it sounds like your computer needs a good tune up
is the error message log popping up on your screen
where is the event log listed 3 times? is it in the event log list
did you re install the windows xp operating system
as for holding down the power button to shut down have you cleaned your computer of dust and have you cleaned your ram modules how much computer ram does your computer have Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules.

Go into thye BIOS and turn off USB bootable device. The error is because the computer is trying to use the keyboadr to boot. At least it solved my problem.

Have you tried to put a disk in the floppy drive when it starts up?
It probably had a disk in before last close down, and is looking for it now when you start up.

I'm not able to access anything on my computer to change anything because it can't boot up to get to the windows screen or access any system tools it stops at a black screen with the event full message. No flashing signals to allow me to even type anything in to get to another section and pressing F1 or F2 does nothing.
usb ports are all fine, still nothing moving to continue boot up. Message actualy reads DMI event log space Full
Sorry all, turns out my batteries for the keyboard were dead, hence the reason I wasn't able to get results with F1 or F2 :P So now if someone could tell me how to either change or empty the log event space I'd appreciate it. Seems I can't do much of anything till that is fixed.
I was able to get to the administrative tools but none of the action tabs showed anything to extend or empty the event log space. Right clicking allowed me to clear it but when I click on it again it still shows full. system shows over 600 errors, applications over 64 and I can't remember now but there was also another that showed 64. If it's too full will the computer stop executing any commands given? If I was to reformat the drive and re-install the winxp would that take care of the problem(start fresh with an empty event log space)?
I tried to perform some of the actions listed in the beginning of your reply. I wasn't able to disable it. All that happened when I clicked on the tap was that it changed every item listed to manual. I ended up re-installing the winxp software and now the event log shows three items listed at 64K. Does that sound right? I'm still having problems with execution of some of the commands when trying to runs software and when it comes to shutting down it won't unless I just press and hold the button on the tower. I may still have to bring it in. I do appreciate all the help you have given me. I found your information to be very helpful.
