Question about Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Web Cam

5 Answers

No video when using quickcam pro 9000 on google chat (gchat)

I am having difficulty using the Logitech quickcam pro 9000 with gmail's gchat application.

Steps I've taken:

1) Installed the quickcam pro 9000 following the instructions provided by Logitech.
2) Searched for updates to the logitech software and installed them
3) Installed the browser plugin from google for use in the google chat program.
4) Uninstalled the google plugin and reinstalled it.
5) Rebooted several times

Other info:
If I use the logitech software, I get video and audio but when I'm in google chat, I don't get any video. Gmail/gchat recognizes my webcam and receives audio through its microphone but the test screen in the gmail settings tab is black (and it should be showing a video of me). The red light on the webcam doesn't turn on when I'm trying to use gchat but does when I'm using the logitech software to shoot video or take a picture.

Same exact thing - my cam is Microsoft brand

This seems to be a fairly common problem with Gmail's chat program. Lots of posts on their forum. I have a Logitech, as does my daughter. We can see and hear each other fine with Skype, but we each only have audio with Gmail. It is interesting that when I am in Gmail and am on the Setting/Chat page and go to Verify Settings I can right click in the black box and bring up the Flash Player settings, then click the camera icon. That brings up a box with a camera icon in it, double clicking that icon bring up my webcam...can't figure out why it doesn't work with Gmail beyond that.

I have had the same problems tying to remotely install this camera on my parent's up to date XP machine. Audio works fine, the Logitech software works fine independantly , but the Gmail chat program and the chat video preview in the "verify your settings" remains dark without an image. If I right click in the black preview pane, there are some Shockwave prompts to allow the sharing of the devices. Even with these clicked to allways allow sharing, I have not gotten the image. I have downloaded the latest webcam drivers.

I suspect this problem may be related to:

1.) A conflict with their USB digital software program.

    2.) A Norton Antivirus Setting.

3.) Trying to set up their computer using the MS remote assistance.

4.) A Shockware issue. I have been successfully using v.9 on my own computer, but their computer still had problems even after rolling back from v 10.0

I had this problem but I fixed it. The google chat uninstaller does not uninstall everything. Go to the hidden folder Application Data of the default or local user in the Documents and Settings folder of the C drive, you will find the plugin folder for google chat. Delete it and then reinstall the plugin and it will work.
C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\Application Data

I had exactly the same problem as everyone else - in XP, no picture in the black box even though it says it recognizes my cam. It all worked with yahoo messenger, but not with google. I just got a new computer with Vista (and updated the newest version of logitech) and presto, now the video works fine in google (IE but not Firefox). The sound still has problems - a 5 second delay and isn't that clear. My daughter and I use our cell phones now but still wonder why the google chat sound isn't right. Anyway, changing operating systems AND updating to the newest logitech version seemed to do the trick. Don't know whether the computer or the update did it though. Also,

Google has admitted that the video chat does not work on computers with CPUs that do not have the SSE2 instruction set.

This includes many AMD processors prior to the Athlon 64 Including the XP, MP, Duron and Sempron. Intel Processors prior to the Pentium 4 likely do not include this function either.

On their groups page Google's staff indicate that they are working on a fix to this limitation.

I have a webcam but i don't have a cd installer, my webcam specification was LOGITECH M/N:V-UBM46, PID;LZ906BP, P/N 860--000109.. i do hope you can help me thanks....

The P/N will let you find the camera software for the 860-000109 here: . This part number is for the QuickCam Pro 9000 or the WebCam Pro 9000. Based on the model number, V-UBM46, you have the QuickCam Pro 9000. Scroll down to find the correct software for the operating system on your computer. The QuickCam Pro 9000 can be used with the LWS (Logitech Webcam Software) versions 1.1, 2.31, 2.51 and 2.80. LWS 2.51 and LWS 2.80 do not support the Video Effects. LWS 2.80 works with Windows 8 and 10 and the direct link to the program installer is . Links to all versions of LWS are at the bottom of the second chart. I hope this helps.

hi freeman319

you might want to try and uninstall the quickcam application. as i've researched skype is having problems with certain cams compatibility. just try and uninstall the quickcam application but not the drivers. with this you may still be able to use the quickcam with other applications.
you can uninstall it through the control panel>add remove programs

also if you are using a headset or separate mic and headset with the video call you would want to disable the mic on the quickcam
go into Device Manager and disable the microphone in the Pro 9000

ofcourse this is just some things you can try but is not guaranteed to solve your issue. please let me know if this works. thanks.

hope this helps

Using Skype with my Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000

The advantage of having a logitech webcam is the support you have.
I just launched my logitech toolbar and clicked on the lowest panel to see what help you have with your webcam in Skype - check this out**&p_li=&p_topview=1

Also there is a good logitech forum from other users as logitech tends to have teflon shoulders when it comes to chat programs
