Monitor is switching off immediately after system is switched on. Again when monitor is switched on, images appear for about 3 seconds and again monitor switches give the solution.

You need to determine if you is turning off or going into standby mode. When your monitor shuts off, the power light will turn orange if it is in standby or the light will turn completely off if the monitor turns off. If your monitor goes to standby, that means that your monitor is losing signal which indicates a problem with your PC. #1 Make sure cable is firmly secured and both screws are tight #2 Check your video card make sure that it is firmly in its slot. Take it out and put it back in. *as long as your computer is open give it a good cleaning with compressed air* If those things check out it is possible that your video card has failed and needs to be replaced.
If your monitor is powering off #1Check plugins- try something else (i.e. lamp) in the outlet #2 Try your PC's power cord in your monitor

yeah so this happens alot and it is always one of three things.

1. the monior is shot
2. the video card component in the pc is done for
3. your cpu has a more serious problem.
i am leaning towards option one becase you say that the pc is on and you can sometimes see the screen and use the pc. Also another problem could be a short in the monitor cables themselves.
one good way to check out whats wrong is to hook up another monitor to the unit and see if everything is ok

i hope this helps.

HP monitor blacking out

What was the last thing you were able to do with it? Have you made any changes to the monitor's or your computer's settings and configuration before the problem came?

Firstly, assess whether the problem lies with the monitor or you pc. It's simple actually. Plug the monitor into another PC, or a DVD player or any other device that would accept the data connection to you PC. If the monitor works on other systems, then the problem lies with your PC. If this is the case, post here again if you need help to solve this.

If the monitor doesn't work, then the case is most probably that the internal chipset of the monitor itself has been damaged or isn't working anymore. The usual causes for this are moisture getting in the monitor, old age of the device, dropping/bumping/breaking/etc of the monitor. Best to have it sent to your dealer or the nearest qualified service center.

Also, follow this link if you'd like to have HP Support to help you.
