You can have a check whether the audio driver is installed or not by the following step :

go to control panel (classic view) > sounds and audio devices

if it display no audio device installed means then the drivers are not installed ...

if it allows you to adjust the volume means then the audio codecs and drivers are installed and it shows the name of the audio driver ...

if it not installed means then you must download the audio driver from net ... to download from net you must first know the model of your motherboard then you can go the manufacture site and you can download it from there ..

if you give me your motherboard model means i will give you the link to the driver ...

if you have downgraded your operating system than the recommended means let me know your motherboard model i will provide you the link to the drivers ...

if you have not downgraded means then you will have the drivers in the motherboard manufacture cd which will be given to you at the time of the purchase of your motherboard or the pc ...

Hi i lost sound on everythink but windows meadia player how do i get all my sound bk on windows 7

Since Media Player is working, you are in pretty good shape....

Double click the speaker icon on the bottom right and you should get your Creative Mixer. If it does not pop up, find it in the control panel and open it.

If any MUTE boxes are checked, uncheck them. Adjust the volume sliders up for each device you want to be able to hear (example: CD player) and you will be good to go!

Unless you are actually using the microphone input, it is good practice to leave it muted.

Sound problems with Windows XP 2002

The very first thing we should do is to check whether the sound card is installed in your system.
To check open device manager. Here are steps to open device manager
  • Go to the control panel
  • Click on the System Icon
  • Click on the Hardware Tab
  • Click on the Device Manager then
  • Double Click on Sound, video and game controller.
If you do not see Sound and audio controllers, then you have to install it,

Installation of Sound Card.
  • Go to the control panel
  • Click on the System Icon
  • Click on the Hardware Tab
  • Click on the Device Manager then
  • Select the Multimedia Controller or Sound and Audio Control the yellow Question Marks sign on it.
  • Right click on Multimedia Controller and uninstall it.
  • After this go to the top of the device manager and click on scan for hardware changes.
  • Driver installation Wizard start.
  • Browse Your Driver from the Hard Disk and click on next.
  • You can also install the drivers from CD.
Driver will be installed if the problem is still exist. Replace the sound card or have a local tech take a look at the sound card.

My system sound not working my motherboard series---Socket 775 LGA motherboard model---O.E.M what i do

1. You may have lost the drivers for the sound card. If you have the mother board driver CD you can reload the sound card driver via the "device manager" in Windows.
2. Check also if you don't have any of the sound outputs muted in the "volume mixer" at the task bar icon for the sound ( the speaker icon).

My Gateway Sound Blaster CT4870 Sound Card seems to be installed and working properly according to device manager in windows but I don't get any sound. where do I find a driver for this sound card that...

Firstly check the volume is not low or muted on both windows and the speakers. In windows click the speaker icon in the bottom right of your screen, check the volume is turned up. Then click mixer or advanced and check that all volumes are turned up.
If using a laptop, check that the hotkey control for volume is on. You will see an audio icon on one of your ‘F’ keys, hold the Fn button located near the ctrl and press the volume function key.

You can goto the manufacturers website, find their support section and there should be a list of drivers for your specific machine. Installing these should resolve your problem.
Hope this helps,

Hi,

  1. Open the Control panel
  2. Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon.
  3. Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document.
  4. If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the sound icon in the systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.
OR Try below methods..

Method 1: Try another sound device loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); If possible, plug a different output device into the computer. For example, if you have been using speakers, try a different pair of speakers or a set of headphones to make sure that the problem is not related to the device itself.

Determine whether you can hear sound. If you can hear sound, there is a problem with the original output device and the issue is resolved. If you cannot hear sound, plug the original output device back into the computer and go to method 2.
Method 2: Use the Windows XP Sound Troubleshooter loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); Windows XP includes a troubleshooting program which could help you resolve your sound issues. Start the Windows XP Sound Troubleshooter automatically or manually and then answer each question on-screen in order to try to find a resolution.
Step 1: Start the Sound Troubleshooter loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution'); If you are already familiar with Windows XP Help and Support Center, click the following link to start the Sound Troubleshooter:
Sound Troubleshooter (hcp://help/tshoot/tssound.htm) OR

Start Sound Troubleshooter manually by using the following steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Help and Support.
  2. Under Pick a Help Topic, click Fixing a problem.
  3. In the navigation pane on the left, click Games, sound, and video problems.
  4. In the topic pane, on the right side, click Sound Troubleshooter.
Step 2: Use the Sound Troubleshooter loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution');
  1. Click the option that describes the problem that is occurring, and then click Next.
  2. Repeat step 1 until your problem is resolved or until you have reached the end of the troubleshooting path.

Note You can click Back at any time to repeat the last step, or you can click Start Over to start the Sound Troubleshooter again.
Determine whether you can now hear sound. If you can hear sound, the issue is resolved. If you cannot hear sound, try method 3.
Method 3: Update your Media Player software loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); If the sound problem that you are experiencing occurs when you use a media player such as Microsoft Windows Media Player, try updating your media player software. To obtain the latest version of the Windows Media Player, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx) Determine whether you can now hear sound. If you can hear sound, the issue is resolved. If you cannot hear sound, try method 4.
Method 4: Update sound drivers loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); Out-of-date sound drivers may cause sound problems. Check whether an updated sound driver is available. You can use Microsoft Update to help you determine your current sound driver and if an update is available. Then contact the sound driver hardware or the computer manufacturer to request an updated sound driver.

To find out whether applicable driver updates are available, visit the following Microsoft Windows Update Web site:
http://update.microsoft.com (http://update.microsoft.com) If the sound driver is out of date, follow these steps to find the name and provider of your sound driver:
  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. Type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Click the Sound tab.
  4. Under Device, look for Name, and under Driver, look for Provider.
  5. Click Exit.
Thank you....

Sound

hey kulandaivelu,

The problem occurs simply because you don't have the specific driver for your sound card. If you have the installation cd of your sound card, please install it. Otherwise, you specify the model of you sound card. Maybe i could help you on downloading the drivers needed for the the given device.

There is no sound

Audio drivers for this, for Windows XP, are listed here -

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=366264&lang=en

Now, you stated there was no Audio device listed in the device manager. Are there and PCI Devices or Multimedia devices listed under the OTHER DEVICES section in the device manager?? Possibly with a yellow question mark listed next to them?? If so, then that may be your audio device, and the link above will send you to the correct page for XP drivers for your machine.

If there are no OTHER DEVICES listed, and nothing with a yellow question mark in the device manager, then it may be a hardware issue. Could be that the audio is turned off in the bios, or simply just bad. For which, the fix, would be just installing a PCI sound card.

Hope this helps, if not, let me know if you need further assistance.
