You don't. http://www.4.midlightelectric.com/acatalog/Leviton104563.html

Traditionally alarm connections go on an RJ-31x in FRONT of the panel.

(thanks to whoever lent me these web sites. It's not an endorsement)

I have wired (2) cat5e connectors using 568B and still seem to be getting collisions and no connectivity. I have re-wired these several times making sure I am the same on both sides. Any ideas?

I would make sure you have the wires pushed all of the way to the end so that it's reaching the metal connector at the tip. Often times there is a wire or two not reaching the very tip and therefor is not fully connected.

We are trying to change a 3 way switch. It is the original wiring/switch from the 1950's. We bought a new switch to replace the old one with. The new switch has two gold screws one on each side and one...

Remove the black wire (it is called the switch leg in this case) that is connected to the bottom screw on the old switch and connect it to to the _black_ screw on the new switch. Then remove the red and white wires from the old switch and connect them one to each gold screw on the new switch. The red and white wires are the "travelers" and it doesn't matter which wire goes to what screw as long as you are connecting both to the _gold_ screws. The "odd screw out" is always the switch leg or hot.

If the switch box is metal you'll need to attach a (green or bare) wire from the green screw on the new switch to the box with a green screw. There are grounding clips available if the holes in the box are not threaded. Or use a 10-32 tap to thread the hole.

Please remember to turn off the circuit and be _sure_ it is OFF. Turn off the main breaker and work with a flashlight if you can't determine which circuit breaker to turn off.

Be safe, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Make sure you can go online directly to the modem. If that is confirmed, you can connect the router directly to the modem and install it using the setup CD that came with it.

Cat5e jack by leviton has eight slots, but my cat5 cable only has 4 wires in it. I punched the wires down on the back four connectors. As long as I do the same on my ends, this should work right? Please...

Cat5 has eight wires, anything less is for telephone. Your cabe is for telephone if it has 4 wires. Either return the cable and get 8-wire cat5 or go to another store for your cat5 wire.

Wiring cat 5 jack

If you're doing both ends, it doesn't matter. I tend to use "B" because if the other end is a patch panel, it natively (ie all wires in order) comes as a "B" panel. Less thinking on my part :-)

Dont know how to hook up cat5e cable to a leviton cat5e jack

Those two jacks are telephone jacks (RJ-11) not ethernet (RJ-45). The jack marked telephone is for a phone, and the jack with a rectangle symbol is for the telephone line into the wall.

You need to buy an ethernet PCI card - without one you can not use a cat5e line (which has an RJ45 connection).
