Some times these games don't function right on higher end TVs. Go into the wii screen settings and if you are using component cables make sure that it is set to progressive scan or standard under the resolution. If this doesn't help and you are on either an LCD tv or plasma you should get the component cables.
As was said, there is no HDMI cable for the Wii. An HDMI cable would be a waste on the Wii, considering the Wii can't ouput 5.1 sound, and can't output 1080P (those are the main benefits with an HDMI cable).
The highest qaulity cable for the Wii is a component cable, which will allow you to output the Wii in 480p (progressive scan) vs 480i (integrated scan). All HDTV's have component inputs, so this is a non issue. Component cables actually can output 720p/1080i, but the Wii can only output 480p max.
1) You don't have a HDMI or component cable 2) Your TV or monitor is low end, and cannot display the majority of the detail in the game.
Most likely it is the cable. eBay has a ton of deals on component cables. I purchased one for my PS2 for under $3, and the quality of the picture is unbelievable. It was possible to achieve 1080i on my PS2!
Are you using an HDMI cable? If not, your best option is to get one online, because they go for about $59-99 at retail stores.
If you are using an HDMI cable, be sure you are using a resolution compatible with your TV. In display options, when you choose HDMI, you should find a list of checkboxes with resolutions (420p, 720i, etc). Personally, my TV only works up to 1080i, because it doesn't have progressive scan (p). The PS3 may be trying to set it to 1080p which your TV can't handle. Try out different resolutions until it works.
I don't think there is a way to set your resolution manually, bro. They do it all by auto. If I may make a suggestion... Turn off both the TV & PS3. Unplug your HDMI, then make sure both your TV & PS3 are turned ON. Now re-connect your HDMI. A TV tech once told me that these units "communicate" through the HDMI. This can only occure whilst they're up & running. This may help get you going on to 1080i.
p.s. PS3 games only output 720p, max! This isn't always the case for Blu Ray movies, but it is for games. Good luck!
Check the owners manual for your TV to see what the max. resolution is and then confirm settings in ps3 menu
sounds like you have the right resolution but wrong type of signal (interlaced or progressive (eg. 480i, 480p))
If your sanyo has a video input (yellow) available, and audio inputs available (white and red) then you just need to connect them. Then you need to select the proper input on the TV set. These may be on the back, side, or front of the TV.
