Question about Onkyo TX-SR875 Receiver

2 Answers

Hi I have an Onkyo TX-SR875. The AV receiver display panel has gone, so I reset it to factory defaults to see if it would bring it back - it didn't. Worse can't now see the on-screen setup menu to setup the HDMI inputs!

I have the same problem too

Audio works but the display is out, reset, and had the unit unplugged overnight, no change, this was not a cheap unit, but I have always regarded Onkyo to be great unit and now this constant problem, seems that this is a general outage, and should have been fixed by the manufacturer. Whare is the general recall for these problems?

Front Panel Display is gone.  Onkyo said to bring it to a service center.  I think they owe all of us an extra year.

Like sriramc correctly ponits out this resistor are most likely the problem. The R9304 and R9310 are 10 ohm resistor, by the way.

This is a common problem on onkyo receivers like the 805, 875 etc. The front panel display board has 2 faulty resistors(marked 9304 & 9310) which can blow out easily. Replacing them with some very basic soldering, resolved the issue for me.

Try factory reset: while holding the(CD) button on front panel, press (POWER) button.
After "Clear" is displayed the unit should be back to its factory default. :) If this dont work for you take the unit to be checked by service . :)

How to reset reciever

If you can't resolve the issue yourself, try resetting
the AV receiver before contacting your Onkyo dealer.
To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults,
turn it on and, while holding down the [VCR/DVR]
button, press the [ON/STANDBY] button. "Clear"
will appear on the display and the AV receiver will
enter Standby mode.
Note that resetting the AV receiver will delete your
radio presets and custom settings.

Onkyo TX-SR875 Everything works fine, just no main unit display? Any ideas?

R9304 or R9310 are broken, if no light in display. This are 10 ohm resistor sitting on the board behind the volum knob in front.

How do you reset it?

Turn it on, then hold down the VCR/DVR button then press the power button again. The display should show "clear" when done correctly and this returns all settings to their factory defaults.

On-screen Menu not appearing on Onkyo-TXSR875

onkyo UK referred me to their UK repairer called GenServe and they were vary helpful, said it was a common fault!  I just happened to live near GenServe and I took it to them and they fixed it in a couple of hours and as it was still under the 2 year warranty, it was fixed for free.  Not sure where you are in the world, but check out their website www.genserve.co.uk
