My Aspire 1694WLMI DVD/CD not working

MY ASpire 1694WLMI (Aspire 1690 DDR2) DVD/CD not working any copied recorded cd's or DVD/'s (some CD's DVD's i copied from my PC or from a friends)

    yeah i have the same problem acer changed the dvd drive 2 times and than replaced my computer but about 3 months after i had the new laptop the dvd drive stopped working as well, it will play CD'S but it wont play any DVD's!!

    dvd/cd drive not recognized or showing in my computer not recognized in media player . When I have add new hardware search, it blue screens and says it is dumping the physical memory

Apparently most DVD disks are now 16x and the Matshita uj-845d DVD/CD-Rom writes/reads in 8x - is there an update to deal with this or, if not, is there a replacement drive to deal with this for an Acer...


you can purchase dvd's and cds that burn at lower speeds. just go to the manufacturers website to get the information you need to make the correct purchase.

Depending on what your computer has for a drive, DVD or CD, makes the difference in the answer. However, you will be safe with either drive using CD-R, CD+W

Acer Aspire 1690 DVD/CD-rom is not working


My cd/dvd rom dont work coz the drive has change to another one.I think take windows xp/vista/7/8 with an usb and inslat it. When windows finished installing try to format it because the dvd and cd rom are fixed . Thnx

Hi In device manager cd/dvd scsi extension had yellow tag over it so I deleted it. Now think I need to reinstall but from where? My dvd.cd is matshitauj840d and my laptop is a acer aspire 1690 Any...


in device manager, move to the toolbar an click on the icon, scan for install device.

i have to same computer and i suggest you use
for music copy it with window media
and if your copying movies use the windows movie maker

they work for me and i have no problems

Slot-loading DVDRW - Unable to write


Before taking it down, I would suggest you try a cd/dvd lens cleaning cd. You could get one at any big electronics store. Clean the lens and see. If that doesnt work, look at getting the drive replaced. I've seen this before, it has been an indicator that the drive is starting to fail. Good luck.
