Hi, welcome to fixya,

your player cannot initialize because of multiple program running. some what a virus embed in your player, this happen when you download file from PC, using USB.

if you have a Updated or upgraded Anti virus it can help. or free AVG 8.0

Scan your PC (whole Computer) all files. if not scan by updated/upgraded anti virus.

and then please don't auto play your player when you plug it to your PC, thru USB.

at the My computer, right click the icon of your player and then, scan with your anti virus or AVG 8.0

after try to check if it is ok.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, it would appear that your MP3 is in a loop or has failed to initialize successfully. Might you try to remove the battery (if possible) for a while and try again after an extended period of time.

Pls postback the exact model/version that you have.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

It is getting stuck while refreshing the database.

Depending on the amount of the data or music files you have on your device, "Refreshing Database" may take a while to finish. But if you feel it's frozen you may try the following steps:
Reset the device 1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds. 2. Release the Power/Menu button. 3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player. NOTE: Resetting will turn the player off while it is frozen.
Delete recently loaded files 1. Connect the device to the PC in MSC mode using force MSC. 2. Locate and delete recently added files. 3. Disconnect the device from the PC.
If this resolves the issue, proceed to STEP 3. Otherwise, format the device, update to the latest firmware, and reload the songs to the device.

Sansa e250 screen is stuck on refresh database

Press the "lock" button to where the Orange is showing. Then press the record button on the left side of the MP3 for a bit. Try this several times. I did it twice and it worked! M.P.

Screen remains on Refresh Database everytime I turn it on.

I've run into this also. a few options.. 1) Use the Sansa Updater software to upgrade firmware. (available on Sandisk website) 2) Sometimes adding a couple new songs back wakes it up.

My sansa is stuck on refresh database

Turn it to recovery mode by putting it on hold, while off, and holding the record button along with power until it go's into a screen with a black background and white text. Then update it with the updater. You can get it here: http://sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376 NOTE: Updater will NOT work on windows vista. Good luck and i hope this fixes it! Have a nice day!

Refresh Music DB

Hi Swicky. "Refresh Database", from what I remember, is the message your player displays after you download songs to it or after you disconnect your player from a computer. You didn't mention if your player is actually stuck on that message, but if your player is, that would probably mean there was data corruption that occurred during a file transfer. You may to format the player to rid it of any corruption. Here's how: Try to format the player in your computer under MSC mode. To set your player to MSC, navigate the menu as follows: Menu > Settings > USB mode > ... This will give you the choice of "MTP" and "MSC". Select "MSC". 1. Plug your player to your computer. Your computer should recognize it as a "Removable Drive" and it will have a drive letter. 2. Right-click on the drive letter for your E250 and then select "Format" 3. When the Format window appears, make sure to select "FAT32" as the file system type and make sure that the "Quick Format" checkbox at the bottom section of that window remain un-checked. 4. Click "Start" and follow the on-screen prompts. 5. When the formatting is complete, simply re-download all songs to the player. I hope this works for you. There is another solution this may actually resolve that error you're having on the player. Let me know the results. :)

Continous refresh database

I've got the same problem too. I read this on another website: 'well firstly drain the battery and then connect it to charge it up a bit. once it has been there for 5min or so take it off and then turn it on>settings>USB Mode>MSC once you have done that connect it up and it should work/recognise the player. i don''t know how this thingy happens but this is just how i fixed mine!' I'm gonna try it now on mine, and see if it works. I've just got to wait now... Good luck with yours.
