Looks like you may have a fire hazard: the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall; check out

Same blinking problem, unit shuts down. HOH2520 TG-U but production code not on recall list! ???

Mine was blinking then shut down. My production code was on the recall list. I bookmarked this page and will return to it when I get a replacement unit.

I had the same problem. this is what i did. unplug the heater. removed the plastic panel to expose the control panel where the blinking light is.  Removed all the dust and cobweb build up, then using rubbing alcohol, wiped the white residue that was on the green circuit board. I did this 10 days ago and the heater has been working fine since then. chaz

I have two of these Holmes 2520 heaters, and strangely enough the one that shuts off and blinks is not under recall notice, and the one that works like a champ is. So I phoned Holmes and was told that ALL 2520 heaters are under recall. Phone them and send in your cord for a new heater!!!

SOURCE: control panel blinking

Worked for me also. I had some coins down in the circuits too (4 year old). Working fine now, no more blinking.

Will not turn on. Unit has been working great until tonight. Was on but now off and will not come on. Unpluged it for an hour but still not working.

This same thing happened to me, and yesterday as well no less. I've had mine for a 3-4 years. I think It had run out of oil, which is weird because I've had a Holmes heater for nearly 10 years and it still has plenty of oil left. If you shake it, can you hear the oil? I went and got another from Target last night (it was the coldest night of the year) and can hear the oil swishing around in it as I set it up. Hope it last longer than another 3-4 years or my next one will be a Holmes.

Control panel blinking

my heater did the same, very frustrating. i have solved this problem.  i took off the plastic cover to expose the electronic circuit board and noticed that there was a white residue on the board. I wiped this clean with rubbing alcohol and put everything back. as of 3 weeks ago i have used the heater frequently as normal and not had any problems. chazdee

Heater comes on but quickly over heats.

There is no Filter On this Model. Check to make sure there is Dirt in the Flow way of the two towers. if that is not it the back up fuse in the heater is going bad.

Not heating

Sounds like either the thermostat or the element. If you hear a clicking when you rotate the thermostat you can assume that it is working. My advise is to replacethe heater. The element is sealed inside the oil chamber and the thermostat will cost almost as much as a new heater, sorry.

Heater shut off but doesn't turn on by it'self

Do not touch the timer, once you do, it activates it. Set the temp. and leave the timer alone, unless you want it to shut off at a given time, 1 hr. and up. Once the timer shuts off you will have to start it manually.

Heater will not operate!

did you take it apart to see if the switch is good or the thermostat was functioning?  without looking inside, other than saying it don't work, isn't going to solve anything.
