Question about Dell Dimension 4300 PC Desktop

Do not know how to open a Dell Dimension 4300 case

There's a large plastic button on the top at the back, but it doesn't appear to release any parts of the case. I need to swap hard drives.

This ought to be a straightforward task, and with older computers it was.

Not so with the Dimension 4300. Booo!

Thanks,

Lay your computer on the side there should be a big button on top and also one on the bottom push both of these buttons and pull the sides back toward you.....it really takes two people to do this...
If this is not your type of case you can go to the dell website and they have instructions for different cases.

Put your case(tower) on its side and press the two top and bottom buttons in have another person pull the loose bit at the bottom of the tower away from them and it should open up
(if its dusty put some force into it)

Look on the bottom of the computer. There is a large arrow molded into the very bottom of plastic base. Set the computer on it's side so that the arrow points up. Press the buttons set into the top and bottom of the case towards the rear and swing the side of the computer up. It will open like a clamshell with the hinge at the front. It will be heavy, so put some force into it.

After hitting the power button on your computer, throw it into "BOOT MODE" and select your hard drive. See if this helps your computer load. If so, you will have to go into your BIOS Setup and make your current hard drive your Primary Boot Device.

If this doesn't help, load your restore disc and check your drive for errors.

Your problem shouldn't be anything more than a few registry errors OR a boot problem.

How do I open a Dell Dimension B110 Case?

If you look on the top near the back there is a black oval looking button...you have to press that down...ALSO you have to press the same button on the bottom of the machine. It opens like a wallet but you have to press those oval buttons to release the latch.

Want to replace broken front cover on Dell Dimension 4300. Need some kind of instructions. Any help appreciated. THANX

If you have a new front cover then open the side of the case and there should be two flat plastic prongs. Pull them towards yourself and push them towards the front of the computer.

Unable to remove cover from dell dimension 8400 desktop pc

This Dell Support, and the Service Manual for the Dimension 8400,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8400/SM/index.htm

In the Service Manual main menu, left-click on - Opening the Computer Cover

1) Computer off, and unplugged from power. (Always unplug the power cable from the surge protector. Then if the power cable needs to be removed from the computer, do so)

2) Remove all cables to the computer

3) Lay the computer on it's Right side.
(As you face the computer, your right side is the computers Right)

4) There is a Release button on the Top of the computer case, and a Release Button on the Bottom of the computer case.
These are located at the Rear of the computer.

The preferred method of opening the computer case, is to press one release button in at a time, and slightly lift up on the side of the computer case, where that release button is located near.

Then go to the other side of the computer case, press this release button in, and lift up on the computer case.

The computer case opens like a clamshell. The computer case is hinged at the front.

Example:
Computer laying on it's right side. Press the Top release button in, and lift up on the computer cover located near the Top.

Now press the release button on the Bottom. Lift the computer case up.

The computer case opens from the back, towards the front, like opening a car hood.

There are two release buttons, one is on the bottom of the case and one on the top. Lay the case on its side and depress these two buttons and the case opens like a **** shell. There are slide hinges attached to allow it tp open wide without disturbing the wiring looms inside.

How do you remove the side panel on the DIM4400?

I used to have one of these but not anymore so I'm working from memory.
Lay the case on its side. You will see a large oval button on the top and another the bottom.

Ok when I say top and bottom I mean the normal top when it is up the right way.

Push both buttons in at once and the whole case hinges open. You almost need 3 hands but once you know which way the hinge swings it is easy. It is actually a very nice case design.

Trouble removing case on Dell Dimension 4600c

Try this...

I work on these systems on a weekly basis and they can be very difficult to open. I would make sure that you have already removed the feet from the bottom and turn it so that the heavy side (technically right side up) will be facing the floor. Place the palm of each of your hands on each of the buttons and squeeze the system as hard as you can while holding the system maybe an inch or two off of the floor. The plastic buttons basically cover a metal release tab that is actually part of the frame. All of the clamshell type cases are tough to open because of this. Good luck.
