Re: sansa e250

I have had the same issue with my Sansa when putting some media types on it. I have had to install the firmware again. It is a slight pain, but your player will work again. I'll post some steps from a crash solution to fix it. 1. Switch the player's hold button on. Hold down the record button and power up at the same time. This will bring you into recovery mode. Now plug your player into the computer. 2. Go to and download that program. Run the program and select yes to format and install the new firmware. 3. Unplug the player and wait for it to reset. This will install the old firmware version, so once it is working again, go to the sandisk site again and download the updater for the firmware and install that. These are the simple steps to a firmware fix, and should take care of the problem. -JJ ...let me know if there are issues with this. There is another way to install the firmware if this one doesn't work.

Re: sansa e250

This is not a sollution, but a comment about your solution JJ.. i had the same problem with my mp3 and i tried doing what you said, and i got to step #3 and when i turned it on to refresh database (followed by selecting MSC mode or whatever) it got stuck again in the same spot its been in for a month.. im sure it has something to do with the music i downloaded, i dont know, but its very aggrevating to not be able to USE my mp3 player! thank you for posting this solution, i hope you have another idea about fixing my problem.. thank you- Talia

sandisk sansa e250 starts but then says refresh database. Menu is in back ground. Maybe frozen, and have tried to reset, but still come up with Refresh database.

"Refresh Database" never ends!

If you try to load too many songs onto the player initially, it may take up to an hour to get past Refresh database. Unfortunately, if you shut the player off while it is refreshing, it will more than likely ruin your player. Run the Sansa Recovery Tool or Update the Firmware on your Player as a workaround. Make sure the hold/lock switch isn't activated, just as a safeguard.

Frozen while on the refresh database screen

Try holding the power button for about 15-20 seconds. This usally shuts the whole thing down.

It may refresh the database as normal next time.

Sansa e250 screen is stuck on refresh database

Press the "lock" button to where the Orange is showing. Then press the record button on the left side of the MP3 for a bit. Try this several times. I did it twice and it worked! M.P.
