I have an Acer Extensa 4620Z and I am trying to burn a cd from itunes and am having much difficulty doing so. When I click to burn, it begins to start for about 1 second and then stops with the message:...

The problem with iTunes is that it uses its own/modifies the disc drive driver. What you can try is uninstall iTunes and performing what is called the Upper/Lower Filter Fix. This involves hitting "Start" and then selecting "Run" from the start menu. If that isn't in the Start menu, you can hold the Windows Key and hit 'R'. When the Run dialog box opens, type "regedit" in the box and click "OK" or "Run". This will open the Registry Editor window. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SYSTEM, then CurrentControlSet, then Control, then Class. This should reveal a bunch of items with seemingly random characters in their name. Select the top most and arrow down until the item at the top in the right-side column says DVD/CD-ROM Drives. Below that, you should see two potential keys, LowerFilters and UpperFilters. Right-click on these and select Delete. Then, restart, and reinstall iTunes. It should correct the issue.

I have a Toshiba laptop and when i try burn cds in itunes i get error 2131. plz help

First uninstall and then re install. That would work. This is a common problem. May be related with the firmware. What is the OS? Often occurs in Vista. You will be able to burn CD-RW disks though. And VERBATIM or MEMOREX brand discs (CD-R) You need a firmware update. Dell have issued a firmware upgrade but not sure with Toshiba recently.
This worked for some machines http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/outFrm.jsp?ofId=AskIris&searchString=error+2131 (Must follow the instructions).
Check new links http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/faq.jsp?service=UK&from=faq_selection&FID=TIU0000003bb6 You must follow the info. And Identify the device type before doing anything.
Thanks for contacting Fixya.

ERROR 2131 WHEN ON ITUNES

Hello,

According to the support page the firmware update fixes the iTunes
issue with “The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error
occurred (2131) when you tried to burn playlist to disc for blank CD-R
media. the region code error for DVD movie playback.
NOTE Please DO NOT USE THIS UPDATE FOR A TOSHIBA LAPTOP the computers
may have the same optical drive but the firmware updates may not be
identical and flashing with the wrong firmware may damage your drive”.
This isn’t just the Toshiba Equium A200 laptop getting an error of
2131, the other notebook’s manufacturers also established the source
of the problem and they have to provide a firmware update to download
and fix this problem. The best thing you can do is wait until Toshiba
provide a firmware update specifically for the TSST TS-L632H version
TO01 drive in your laptop.

Please let me know if you have any fuhrer questions or concerns.

Thanks.

Acer Extensa 5620Z will not work with more than 2GB RAM??

parrotheadpc is incorrect in stating "you can only have a total of 2048 mb installed".

the 5620Z accepts 2 x 2 GB SODIMM RAM, the machine boots and shows the full 4 GB in the BIOS.

the full 4 GB works with the Ubuntu x64 installer.

Windows XP x32 goes BSOD on startup.

Windows 7 x64 install from DVD fails with same BSOD error.

conclusion: this is a Windows-Extensa 5620Z incompatibility that would require a fix by ACER at the BIOS level.

question: there may be specific memory modules 2 x 2 GB which do work--anyone have it work with Windows?

Unknown Error 2131 appears when I try to burn a cd from my itunes account on my dell inspiron 6400. Any ideas, have surfed the net a bit on this one but couldn't find any concrete solution. Thanks. I have...

you need to update the firmware on your burner or invest in a newer model (might be easier, as some firmwares are insanely difficult to get a hold of)
