Firmware v1.10 for iRiver PMP 120 (20 GB)

I've researched this tirelessly and it all comes down to this. I just need the original v1.10 firmware for the iRiver PMP 120 (20 GB). I've read around, and it turns out it HAS to be v1.10. I don't have the receipt and the warranty's long expired, so sending it in is out of the question, so as far as I can tell, I just really need a copy of the original firmware v1.10

SOURCE: iriver pmp 120 use the wrong charger

try this. the iriver doesn't boot at times ( wrong charger or using the right charger abroad), unlatch the battery and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds. also reset the instrument. hopefully that might work for you.

SOURCE: iRiver H340 firmware

with the hex file hold the navi button for a few seconds; you get four options select the general one then you will see an upgrade firmware option. select this the hex file on your player is your firmware it will then go through the upgrade process. don't touch while this is happening. it will turn off when done. then thats it. Be careful the version v1.30 will get rid of the video option go with v1.29 or less

My IRiver E150 4 gb blocked.It's says Generating Database.Plase wait... I wait a lot....wt can i do?

Hi, I had the same problem with my Iriver E200. The cause is firmware corruption.

I solved this problem using this method:

1) connect your Iriver device to pc and open the disc of your player;
2) you can see various folders: open the folder named "system";
3) this folder contain a *sys file;
4) open this file using notepad;
5) go to the row "version = ...";
6) you have to modify this row by inserting an older version of firmware. For example if you have "version = 1.11", insert a smaller number, for example 1.07. Save the *.sys file edited. In this way you can force iplus3 to reinstall an uncorrupted version of firmware;
7) now open iplus3, go to Tools -> Portable device -> update firmware. You should be able to reinstall firmware.

My iriver got boot failure,

the latest firmware is 2.04 download HERE and follow instructions. HEREis the download link for the english version of the users manual. I hadto add the .zip extension to it to make it extract but to answer yourquestion it does not look like it supports .m4a files. Use THIS to convert yor .m4a files to .mp32_bing.gif so you can play them, it's free to try

Iriver x20 - freezes and wont show as a connected device to pc

When you connect the PMP to the computer does it say your new device is ready for use or something else like 'the device has malfunctioned'?

I have the same issue that frequently the computer won't see the PMP. Keep trying it sometimes works. If not then its likely that the harddisk is dead or dying.

Getting music off Iriver

Bronte,
When you change your firmware from the "manager" version to e.g. the Firmware v1.85 UMS version, you will no longer need to use the iriver manager software to move mp3's around, you can just drop them on or from your iriver. The disadvantages are that:
1. by upgrading to the UMS version, you will wipe ALL your current music, so it will NOT help you right now, only after you have upgraded to the UMS version and placed mp3's on there again. The iriver will behave like an external thumb-drive, so you can use it on any PC without the iriver manager.
2. The UMS firmware will ONLY run in USB 1.0 speeds, so it will take up to 36 minutes to fill the iriver up with 1 GB of music (or in my case podcasts).
Regards,
Robert Ilbrink
