I have an Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Inkjet Clogged Printheads

I have been trying for 3 days to clean the printheads. I have went through 2 sets of ink. Matte Black does not print at all and gloss Optimizer barely prints. Can I clean it with a solution and where are the printheads?

Thanks Kathy

I read a blog recently where someone used warm water in a syringe where the cartridge fits must be a tight fit and forced the water through the jets the water will evaporate in about 12 hours

Colors are not true. The main color is pink and various versions of pink. Can anyone help me?

Probably a blocked printhead.

Try a small test print - make a small graphic using something like PAINT. Make small filled colour rectangles in each of the colours that this printer has cartridges. Don't make them large rectangles - no need, just wastes ink.

When you print this, you'll soon see which parts of the printhead are clogged.

If the printer has been stood unused for a while, this is a common problem.

Clogged printheads can SOMETIMES be cleaned - but it's not guaranteed. Most Epson printers have fixed printheads, so unclogging is more difficult than printers where the head(s) are removeable.

You'll find lots of info on unblocking printheads on the Internet, just search.

Stylus Pro 9600. LC damper has a leak and the printhead is clogged. Is there a video or photo spread on how to replace both? The ink line at the damper looses vacume/prime. Thanks...

There is a website www.americaninkjetsystems.com that has pictures posted on how to take apart the Epson 9600 printer and get to the Dampers and Printheads.

Hi from Finland. I have epson stylus photo r220 printer. Automatic printheads cleaning does not help. Is manual nozzle clogging with alcohol possible? And is manual ink pad cleaning with isoprophyl alcohol...

For the Ink Pads you can use just water but you have to dissasemble the printer to get them out.
For cleaning the nozzels you can use distilled water with a small syringe put a little in every color into the PRINTHEAD not into the cartridges and let it sit a couple of hours then try again the nozzle check. Good luck

Epson Stylus R1800 is not printing correctly. It is skipping spots leaving clear areas across the page. Changed all the cartridges.

your problem is not with the inks it is with the printhead... try running the maintenance and head cleaning... epson is notorious for print heads getting clogged!! good luck

Brand new Epson black ink cartridge won't print

Leaving an inkjet for two weeks with an empty cartridge is a definite way to get clogged printheads. Try doing 4 to 5 head cleans, wait about 10 hours for the ink to soften and do another 3 or 4 cleans with anozzle check after each. You should see a gradual improvement in the nozzle checks. If there is no improvement then you need a head cleaning solution such as this one:

Others are available just try googling "inkjet head cleaning".
Hope this helps.
Please take a moment to rate this solution, thanks.

My yellow ink head on my r1800 printer is clogged.

If it is within warranty then contact epson support. If not and normal head cleaning doesnt work then try a print head cleaning solution such as:

Hope this helps.

Epson r220 printhead cleaning

Helps to turn the printer off when not in use as the heat tends to dry out the ink. Sometimes the heads just quit and have to be replaced. If you are sure it's just blocked remove it and flush with soft water, then buy some windex window cleaner, make a solution of 100 mls cleaner 200 mls soft water and soak overnight , flush with soft water and shake dry, hope it works.

My printer's printhead is blocked what liquid i should use to solve it

hi. if you have tried holding down the ink button for three seconds and that failed, you can clean the printhead with a damp cloth (water only). gently wipe it. then try the auto clean again.
