Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

After a power outage (the laptop was connected to the main) the backlight no longer works. Is there a setting for this, or is it blown? It's an Acer Aspire 5100.

Thanks, a friend fiddled and found a setting in the power management settings that fixed it. Not quite sure how it was knocked out, but it's fine now. Thank goodness - I wouldn't want to get a new screen!

Powersurge. When i turn tv on,clicking sound and would not turn on.Replaced main board. Now it turns on, but is blackscreen and you cant poweroff unless you unplugit.replaced main powersuppy,no change

no, if you have had a power surge then several, if not all, the components may be fried/blown. probably best to take all the bits and give them to a tech to see if a tv can be pieced together.
You should, whether the tv is salvageabl
or not, get, buy the best surge protector you can.
I recommended, elsewher on this website, that everybody should acquire surge protection for their electronic devices.I read countless queries that say "we had a power outage and now such and such no longer works"....yes , because the power outage was a surge that probably blew up electronic devices for several blocks around where you l9ive.
old , uncared for, unserviced infrastructure is costing members of the public a fortune.

No power appears to be coming in....no connection when door is closed; no lights come on on any of the cycle indicators...deader than a doornail@l

Hello. I need the make/model number to help you most accurately. From the symptom you describe, there might be a main fuse located on or near the main control board which has opened, killing power to the unit. Clues: totally dead--no lights--an open door will not affect indicator lights, the unit won't do anything though--safety(nothing will happen until the door is closed) Have you had a power outage recently? Usually 3-4 weeks after an outage, the damaged chips on the boards start to fail. This can be evidenced by blown control panels, blown main boards, etc. Make sure 120 volts *is* getting to the dishwasher--check the power connections below(be careful). If the breaker has tripped, reset it and see if the unit runs. Troubleshooting starts from the outside and proceeds inward, eliminating the obvious and moving to ever more complex problems until the culprit is found. Definitely supply me with that model number so I can see what I'm dealing with and guide you correctly. Thanks!

How do I link handset to base after power outage CS6529-3

You set the cordless phone back into the charging base. After a few seconds (longer if in need of a charge), the cordless will register with the base establishing the connection required to place and receive calls.

Yamaha RX V671 will not turn on anymore after a power outage

The protection mode has activated.
Reset the protection mode as follows and see what happens.

Connect power cord to mains and wait 5 seconds or so. While holding down "info" and "tone control" buttons, press "main zone" power button briefly and release, but keep "info" and "tone control" buttons pressed for at least 3 more seconds. The unit should power up. Assuming the reason for the protection has passed or been fixed, the unit can now be turned off and then back on with the "main zone" power button to restore normal operation mode.
If the protector activates again, the fault is still present and the unit needs to be repaired, ideally by a Yamaha authorised repairer.
There are dangerous voltages present in high power amps and a lot of grunt in terms of stored energy - best left to trained technicians.

I have belkin 3342 router how do I get it to work with my acer laptop

Chances are, you have both a modem from your Internet company and your Belkin router. when you had the power outage, it took a bit longer for the modem to come up to a ready state and the router was already ready (they come up very quickly). Try unplugging the power to the router for ten seconds and plug it back in. Watch the icon in the lower right corner of your screen and you should see it connect. Then you should be able to get online.

There is no picture on bush 26inch flat screen tv

Hello,

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those. If otherwise,
You most likely have a backlight issue with this TV set. Could be the inverter circuits for the backlights. The inverter is the power supply source for the backlights. there could also be a screen driver problem.
if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

Hope this will help in solving the problem....

Toshiba P10 laptop screen no longer works.

It's not the inverter but the biotin backlight bulb that lights the display from underneath. The screen needs to be replaced unless you want to try and rebuild it and replace the backlight bulb. New screens from EBay should not be more than 70-100 bucks. If you want to try and replace the backlight bulb, the link is below for the procedure.....

I have a harmon kardon cdr 30 cd recorder. After a power outage the unit no longer turns on. A surge must have blown something.

Hi
First thing to do is disconnect the unit from the mains supply for 15 mins to allow for a hardware reset, and then power it up and try again. If it does not come up, then the power supply has been damaged by a power surge associated with the outage. You may have no choice but to take the unit to an authorised HK repairer. Let me know how you get on with resetting the unit. Please take the time to rate this solution. Happy to talk to you more about it. Cheers

hi, i have had the privilege of work on these particular series of HP Laptops. This may sound daft, but have you tried the brightness keys? If so you have a fault with the backlight which is caused by 1) a fault on the Mainboard 2) the inverter has blown (a small circuit board the regulates the voltage from main board to the lcd screen) 3) The backlight on the lcd screen has blown. You will need to determine where the fault lies before paying out large sums. You may want to get a diagnostic done by a Local laptop company. Hope this helps.

Compaq Presario C700 Notebook Backlight only works on Battery Mode

First of all, let me inform you that there will be different brightness settings when the Notebook is running with Battery and Power Adapter.
I recommend you to try increasing the Brightness when the Power Adapter is connected to the Notebook by following the steps below :
Connect the Power Adapter to the Notebook and turn on the Notebook.
Now, hold the FN Key which can be found at the left bottom of the keyboard next to the Ctrl key and press the F8 button to increase the Brightness.
This should increase the Brightness of the LCD. Increase the Brightness to your comfirtable level and you are done.
Now, if you disconnect the Power Adapter, the display will appear either darker or brighter as per the previous settings with the Battery.
This is to save battery power like if the Brightness settings are same for both the situations like when the Notebook is connected with the Battery and the power adapter, battery will drain up fast.
So, if you can have different brightness settings for when the Notebook is running with Battery and Power Adapter, it is possible to maintain battery with low brightness.
Hope this helps.....
