When I select autoconvergence, the screen flashes black and then a green image flashes on each side of the screen. Then it just goes back to the menu screen with no changes. The picture itself (on live tv or in the menus) is bowed in on the top and bottom, with the three colors not alligned properly(it looks like I should be wearing 3D glasses.) I have also tried the manual convergence with no luck. Neither manual convergence test will allow me to move the crosshair...at all. With that being said, what would you say is my issue?

Re: CONVERGENCE ISSUE *UPDATED* RCA HD52W63D
Convergence Power supply board. In the television above the cuircit boards there are two curcit boards that sort of hang above. the one on the right is the convergence amplifer board(has metal fin like heat sinks).. The one on the left is the convergence power board. Since you have options and no control, bowing picture. this would be my first choice. Now it still may have convergence amplier trouble. To get these boards you will have to get the entire model with suffix ext. it will be like d52w20...yx1 yx2 or something like that. in small leter on the model sticker on back l

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

Normally on the RCA rear projection TV's you would bring up your menu and choose the Setup menu, then press OK on the remote. That menu would then have Convergence as a choice. Once that was chosen the next menu would give you the choice of either letting the TV run it's own Autoconvergence program, or you would select either Red or Blue convergence.
Choosing Red Convergence would bring up a Yellow cross-hair in the middle of the screen. If the Convergence was not correct you would see separate Green and Red cross-hairs. Once they were perfectly aligned you would again see one Yellow cross-hair.
Choosing Blue Convergence would bring up a Blue cross-hair in the center of the screen. If the alignment was out you would see 2 Blue cross-hairs. Using the Up and Down and Left and Right cursor keys you would adjust the alignment until a single solid Blue cross-hair was in the center of the screen.
you have to go into the menu, sometimes convergence is listed in the video section.
the chasis number is ITC222.
some had manual convergence then you have to adjust red onto green, blue onto green DO NOT MOVE GREEN
if it has autoconvergence activate it.do not do anything until its done.
The master convergence settings have to be close for the Autoconvergence to work. If they are not you need a technician to go into the service menu and adjust them. This is a long job and you can't do it yourself.
convergence in the itc222 chasis is controled by three cuircit boards. when you select convegence option first try autoconvergence watch what happens closely. does your picture apeard bowed> if so then you more that likely have a convergence power board issue. IF you try manual convegence of the red or blue and if they move dont move eather left or right up or down then likely it will be the convergence amplifer board. Now if all that fails then there one more possibility the ssb or small signal board this board has the convergence processor on it. if this board is faulty then it willl take a tech with special equipment to replace
this is a complete loss of convergence. FIrst question do you have the convegence option under setup in customer menu... if you dont then it might be the fl231 fuse problem common with these sets. if you do then try autoconvergence... if fails then you probally have a bad convergence power board. there are three diffrent boards that can affect convergence. convergence power, convergence amp, and small signal board..
This is what is known as convergence. a projection tube ussally has three picture tubes.. red green blue. they all have to align. the concave picture indicates complete loss of convergence or convegence power supply. First question on these sets Do you have the convergence option in the customer menu under setup. if you do not this is a indication of the common "FL231 fuse problem" and inexpensive simple repair. I have wrote and artilcle on this under my tips and trick section. If you do have the option then next does autoconvergence work. in you case i would not think it work. under blue and red manual convergence does the crosshairs move. if not then this is indication of convergence power supply board. if they move at all this may indicate a convergence amplifer problem.
Ok let me get started by saying this is What is known as CONVERGENCE Your projection tv has 3 projection tubes Red Green and Blue. They all have to hit the same spot to create different colors they all have to come to a CONVergence as it were. Someone mentioned deguessing this only works with crt type tvs... Ok i see these set very frequently at the shop, I need to first ask you a few questions. FIrst one.. Can you go into customer setup menu. When you do can you see a option called "convergence" Very important if you do not see this option it might be a good thing. there is a common problem with these sets FL231 it is a very small special fuse that blowns due to poor connections.. IF you know how to solder and can get this fuse it will save you hundreds of dollars. Now if you do see this option then sorry the troubleshooting continues,,, next go into this option there should be 3 options autoconvergence red convergence and blue convergence first try auto convergence the screen should go black and start flashing little red blue and green boxes aroung the edge of screen. this takes a few minutes and hopefully it will end in a full green screen, if it ends in red then next try manual red and blue options u get a cross in center and when you up and down left and right it should move the red or blue cross with it.If it does move then it might need a service convergence. if it doesnt then you have trouble with ether what is known as convergence power supply or convergence amp board. and at this point i would suggest a tech. WARNING THIS SET GENERATES DANGEROUS VOLTAGES AND RETAINS THESE EVEN WITH THE SET UNPLUGED. I do not recomend inexperience person to remove the back cover of this set. BOy I did not realize i could get so long winded(lol) just be carefull and good luck and if you need any help just get back with me ill try to be reponsive
ok go into setup menu.... go to convergence.. try to adjust convergence .. does the crosshair move up and down side to side... if not then you might hqve q poblem with convergence power supply if they move then u might have s setup issue
