Add some details.. Make sure your AC adapter is working fine.. Normally it has a LED which shows it's giving output...... If that is working you have Dead Printer Motherboard issue.. Which can be fixed if you have proper gadgets.
The Paper Jam message may appear on the display if
the Brother machine is not feeding paper correctly, paper scraps stucked or the paper is not loaded properly in
the paper tray, the jam clear cover located in the back of the machine,
is not installed properly or the PE Actuator is missing or damaged.

If it doesn't do this with paper in the tray, it's a stuck paper present sensor flag. If the machine thinks there's paper there, it tries to feed. Since paper doesn't make it to the timing sensor, it shows a jam. Check for a stuck flag above where the leading edge of paper would be with the cassette inserted.
E-3 Cause: If the Paper Output Tray is closed or not opened fully, open it fully. The machine resumes printing.
Solution: If opening the Paper Output Tray fully does not resolve the problem, the paper may be jammed. Remove the jammed paper, reload paper properly in the machine, and then press the Black or Color button. If it is still having a problem follow these steps to reset the device.

Reset the device when it is not functioning properly. If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it.
1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

You dont need side bar anymore, rightclick anywhere on desktop and goto
gadgets, Add the ones you want, put them where you want (side, top,
anywhere) and thats your gadgets as they were in vista.
If you have installed Windows 7 beta then you must
be aware of the bug that whenever UAC is switched off, Sidebar and
Gadgets in Vista fails to display properly on Windows 7 Desktop. Though
this is not for every machine but many users have reported this problem
that their Sidebar and Gadgets are not working properly.

The scanner is not working properly, not the printer part of the unit.
The LED array is not lighting causing black scanned prints.
Resolder the contacts in the LED array...probaly a cold solder joint.
please have the check on fuser for damage. Could be a thermistor, thermo switch, or faulty heaters. To clear error, service morefunction/clear/error/ok/ exit service mode and cycle power.
fuser over temp means the fixing assy has exceeded the manufactures maximum temp limits
Fuser error codes cannot be reset by power cycling the machine eventhough that is what the display tells you to do. In order to reset thefuser error code you must enter the service mode & reset the code.To enter the service mode: press"Additional Functions" button (looks like a picture of a head with a star inside) press the #2 and #8 at the same time (simultaneousley) press "additional functions" again The display should show a choice of copier,feeder,sorter,fax,or board service modes Select copier select clear select ERR press OK Turn power off & back on. ****IMPORTANT**** Afterclearing error stay at the machine to see if it comes to ready. Thefuser assy can reach 139 degrees C.(Water boils @ 100C) The error canonly be cleared through the service mode because a technician shouldinspect the fuser to verify there is nothing faulty that could possiblystart a fire. If you enter the service mode & clear the error,power cycle the machine & during warm up the machine throws a codeagain- turn it off, unplug it & call a tech for fuser repair. Good Luck!!
