Try re-installing nero, but if that doesn't work then you might have some viruses and malware messing with you.

Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking". Now get some or ALL of the FREE programs below.

Download, Install and Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5756
When Installing choose the non-pro version.

Download, Unzip, Install and Run TDSSKiller:
http://majorgeeks.com/Kaspersky_TDSSKiller_d6895.html

Download, Install and Run Super Anti-Spyware:
http://majorgeeks.com/SUPERAntiSpyware_d5116.html

If you have an outdated Anti-virus program then Download, Install and Run Avira Anti-Virus:
http://majorgeeks.com/Avira_AntiVir_Personal_-_FREE_Antivirus_d955.html

Ways to burn Discs with Finder and Disk Utility in Mac (versions OS X 10.4 -...

Without purchasing new disc burning software, there are actually 3 ways to burn CDs & DVDs in your Mac OS X system (Mac OS X 10.3-10.6)

There are methods using Finder and Disk Utility.

Both are easy to do and when set up to use will have you burning music, video, data, and image files (ISO) to CDs or DVDs in no time at all.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BURNING DISKS WITH FINDER

1.) Create a Burn folder and burn a CD/DVD

* The easiest way to burn a disc with Finder is to create a Burn folder with Finder. Here's how you do that:

* Click on any blank space on your desktop and in an instant, Finder will appear on the Apple menu bar next to the Apple menu icon.
• Click on File and select from the drop down menu

9696d88.png

* This distinctive folder will now appear on your Desktop

597c898.png

* Now insert a blank CD or DVD and in moments, you will see this window pop up:

b3dbf79.png

• Just click the OK button.

* In a few more moments
on your desktop, you will see this Untitled DVD (or "CD: for CD-ROM Disks) icon:

10ec18d.png

• Now you can either drag and drop files into the folder, or just double-click the folder and also drag and drop files into the open Burn Folder window

* If you notice, each file you drag (or copy and paste) into the Burn Folder window will have a small curved arrow at the bottom left corner of the file.
That is merely a designation that the file is a image of the actual file and ready to be burned to the CD or DVD you use.

e3c6169.png

* Notice the Burn button (highlighted in the red box). This is the button you will press, to commence the burn (or copying) of the data you have placed in the burn folder to be copied to disk.

• Click the Burn button, name your disk and that is all it takes. When the process is complete, you will now see a formerly Untitled Disk icon on your desktop replaced with a "Your_new_disc_name" DVD.

(Additional Note: If you wish, you can also simply bypass creating a Burn folder, insert a blank CD or DVD and simply drag and drop or copy and paste files into the open window of the Untitled CD as well.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BURNING A DISC WITH DISK UTILITY

There are actually two ways to burn data to an DVD or CD with Disk Utility:

1.) Burn a disk in Disk Utility

* Simply open Disk Utility by either clicking anywhere on a blank space on your Desktop window and Finder will appear near your Apple menu, select Go >Utilities and that will take you to the Utilities Folder which is the default location of the Disk Utility application.

b90ce30.png

* Or you can click the Finder icon on your Dock, open a new Finder window, click on "Applications" listed in the side window and select the Utilities folder

a166fbd.png

d3fca75.png

* Either way, you will land here.

b417a9b.png

• Insert your CD or DVD.

9974e96.png

* Once you open Disk Utility, you will see this main window

a4997c2.png

* Now all you need to do is click the "Burn" button located on the Disk Utility toolbar.

3017d47.png

* For an example, I am striving to burn a copy of my Quicken .dmg file to CD.

* Once I have selected the file, then I click the Burn button located at the bottom right corner of the Finder window.

4773cc2.png

* Follow the onscreen instructions to start the burn process.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Creating a multi-session disk using Disk Utility:
Now it is known, that one cannot burn more than once with a single CD-R disc, but it can be done as provide from the knowledge base of Apple support:
  • In the Finder, create a folder for the session and drag the items you want to burn into the folder.
  • In Disk Utility, choose File > New > "Disk Image fromFolder." Then select the folder you created in the dialog and clickOpen.
  • Type a name for the image, choose a disk format, and click Save. Mac OS Extended allows burning the disc more than once. Formats such as ISO allow burning the disc only once.
  • When the disk image is complete, select it in the Disk Utility list and choose images > Burn or click Burn in the toolbar.
  • Insert a blank CD in the optical drive.
  • Select the "Leave disc appendable" checkbox. If you don't see this option, click the triangle in the top-right corner.
  • Click Burn.
What is really nice about this CD/DVD burn feature of DIsk Utility, is that now you can come back later and add more files to the same CD without having to waste all the space on a new CD-R.

This especially useful, if the image file you are need to burn is small in capacity. Just pop the previously burned CD in your drive and add that file or files until that CD is filled to capacity- that is all it takes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So there you have it, a quick tip on how to use Finder and Disk Utility to burn any data to your CD and DVDs.

Thanks for viewing my Mac OS X tip from FixYa Support. Stay tuned for more tips for how to make the most of your Mac OS X systems!

New computer, never used a burner before. how to use the dvd burner?

Purchase or download free burning software. There is a number of different softwares to choose for your DVD burning needs. SwiftDisc Burning Wizard Premium, Xilisoft DVD Creator and Nero 9 come with a free trial. The purchasing price is less than $100, as of 2009. Ashampoo Burning Studio Free and BurnAware Free are available if you do not want to buy the software.

  • 2 Insert a DVD into the burner. The DVD-RWs offer the option of erasing the DVD or adding more application to the disk. Do not use this type of disk for playing movies in a regular DVD player or music in a stereo. DVD-R disks are non-erasable. Take extra care when burning on this type of disk, any errors or accidentally opening the drive will cause the disk to stop functioning.
  • 3 Run your burning software. When you insert the disk, a window will appear. Press the "X" in the top right corner. Click on the "Start Menu" icon. Go to "Programs" then click on the burning application folder. You will have different options depending on the program. Typically, you will have the choice of burning data, videos or music.

  • In case you want some free burning software, type in a comment, I will find some for you

    Dvd burner not burning

When you get no disk error, that is usually because of a problem with the optical laser lens that is dirty, faulty or opaque, and will start operating on certain disks better than others.

In that case you will hear disk spinning, whirring and clicking, but the TOC (table of content track at start of CD/DVD will not be read, therefore the error.

Whe this problem is starting you may be able to read only CD, DVD, or for example only DVD-R and not +R , or only to read and not to write and so on. After more prolonged usage , often the unit goes losing the rest of functions, and ends up not reading anything at all.

If instead there is no noise, and disk does not spin at all , then there is a faulty motor, or the motor micro-switch is bad. This situation is far less common than the lens problem.

Try first using a CD/DVD cleaner disk to clean the lens. If that does not work you will need to disassemble the drive , and clean lens directly with q tips and isopropyl alcohol, or to replace the CD/DVD RW drive unit.

Why my [sony cd rw dvd rom] will not detect a blank dvd disk

If you have the sony CD RW DVD ROM then you can't burn the data in a blank DVD.

    Because your Configuration is :
    Read : CD / DVD
    Write : CD

This means you have a combo drive. But to burn a DVD you should have DVD RW.

Other than those, is not possible.

    2. Must have burn apps named:

If you have them then using the apps to burn, just read the manual.

But If you want songs from website, you should download it first.
Unless the site is giving you a step by step how to burn songs directly to your cd/dvd.
Once downloaded, would be easier to burn to cd/dvd.

    Dvd not working

Ok this type of thing is very common ... however often we chase our tails looking for a software fix when often it's the DVD/CD itself.. so to find out either way weather the device is FUNCTIONAL, download "CopytoDVD" here www.snapfiles.com/get/copy2dvd.html This has it's own ASPI recording layer... and if your DVD is FUNCTIONAL... then it WILL burn ya DVD... however if the DVD is, as I suspect, .. kaput! then it will NOT burn a DVD.. that's basically how we would "Test" Functionality. So if it works then ya all good.. else ya gonna haveta get a new DVD.
