Question about IBM ThinkPad T43 Notebook
I was thinking that i had to reset my OS but i dont know how to do that. can you assist me with that? and do you know the effect that it might have on my files, hard drive, etc?
Well, i can always try to help you:)
First of all you shuld know that everything on your disc will be lost, so if you have anything you really dont want to loose i suggest you save it on a disc (burn it) or memostick
Then check so that you have an OS whit a proper key,
And check that you have drivers for your PC, not nessasary but it would help you so you dont need to search on the net for them.
Now, time to start
When booting your pc, press DELETE or F1 or F2 or whatever the button is for you pc to enter the bios,
When u are there you will find something called "Advanced setting", inside there you will find "boot sequence" get in there and change the boot so the first boot is yoour ´cd, put your OS cd in the cd-driver, press F10 to save the settings in bios.
Now your pc will restart, and your OS will start the installation, after a while you will be asked if you want to repair your OS or reinstall it, select reinstall, then you will be asked if you want the installation on that partion, select no, select to remove the pertition then formate the the disc whit NTFS (fast) make a new partision of the disc, now sit back and follow the installation, you will be asked after the OS key and some other questions, just answer them and you will be fine,
After about 30-40 minits the installation of the OS should be done, restart you pc, get in to bios again and change the first boot from cd to hdd, press F10 to save, your pc will restart again and you will enter windows, now its time for the drivers. Install all drivers one by one, if u been ansked to restart your pc, do it.
After installing all the drivers you can install all the programs you have and need
Now your done, and hopfully your pc will be as good as new;)
Dont forget to install a good virus/firewall program as well.
Before moving the files you saved on discs (if any) you should scan them for virus and spyprogs before putting them back on your pc.
Now, i hope this small lesson is good enough to start whit:) if any questions,,,just ask and i will try to help you as good as i can!
Good luck to you
