Short cycling, could be because of gas pressure, drain issues from inducer and exchanger (if 90% plus furnace), auxilary limit getting to hot (dirty filters, obstruction, dirty coil), or your flame sensor is failing. Does the furnace lock out? or does it just cycle on and off? If it does how often? Thanks

Is it normal for my furnace to have burner cycle once or twice

That sounds normal. When the bonnet reaches a preset temperature the burner turns off then when it cools down a bit the burner turns back on. Clean filters etc will help to keep the burner on longer in a cycle.

Duo Therm Heat Pump Does not Run, Shows Aux Heat Mode, Switches to Furnace Heat

The control that monitors the cutoff temperature may need to be adjusted. Your hetpump may also work effectively at 16 degrees. you have not left any information on the make or model of the heatpump or the thermostat.

My goodman furnace model gms95 has gone ape. when the thermostate calls for heat, the furnace kicks on and starts to cycle but it wont stay on long enough to reach the set temp, before it kicks off. and it...

It sounds like your furnace is cycling off because your high temperature limit is tripping. This could be caused by a restriction of intake or outlet airflow. First thing to check is your intake air filter, clean or replace as needed. If that doesn't help, make sure your warm air registers are open, a rule of thumb is at least 60% of the total registers need to be open for adequate airflow. The high temp limits will reset themselves after they cool so that would explain it taking a few "cycles" to reach desired temperature. Good luck and please rate my answer if it was helpful.

When the thermostat calls for heat it should run until the room reaches the temperature setting then shut off. Is the blower motor running and can you feel air coming out of the vents? It sounds like the blower is either not running or putting out enough air to keep the furnace heating. The blower moves the heat from the heat exchanger to the room, if it can't remove enough heat from the heat exchanger there is a limit switch that will shut the burner off if it gets to hot and that's what it sounds like is happening.

sounds like the flame sensor needs to be replace. You can try cleaning it with steel wool. This will get you by for a little while.

Ruud air to air heatpump intertherm propane furnace honeywell th5220d non programable thermostate.fan on furnace will not turn off in aux.mode even though the furnace heat kicks on and off. thank you for...

Make sure fan relay is wired correctly (G) wire. Ensure the fan on therm is not on, it should be on Auto or off.

If your furnace is short cycling because it has to keep heating your home, the delay in the control board may be staying on to compensate for the exchangers getting hot. If it heats normally, then put your attention to your thermostat.

Set the heating system on aux heat only. Fan should not be on, if it does stay on after a heating cycle, see if the furnace is heating normally, and reaching temp as desired before the heat comes off. Then check the therm wiring, pull the face of the therm, disconnect green wire (fan) and try the heating again.

Aprilaire 600 Humidifier

J-

I had this problem several years ago. In order for the water to flow, the outside temperature sending unit must indicate to the controller that it is less than 60F. If not, the unit will not operate outside of test mode. Check the temp outside where your sending unit is (could the sun be heating that side of the house?) and ensure that the circuit to the sending unit is working. I had a bad wire splice inside a wire nut stopping the circuit. Took me a long while to figure it out.

If the outside temp and your sending unit circuit is ok, I wish you luck on your troubleshooting.

Furnace won't stay on

Check your thermostat first. take of face of therm, disconnect wires, tie in red and white together, ,if your furnace runs ok, then your therm is bad. Thats the easiest way to test.
