Replacing a stand alone dvd receiver with this unit-wiring help needed

Just purchased this unit to replace my audiobahn stand alone dvd unit under the passenger seat of my minivan. There is the power and ground wires already in place along with the yellow video and audio RCA wires from the old unit. Seems like a simple swap of units but the instructions refer to a switching wire being needed and a parking break wire. I wish to only use this unit for DVD playback...dont care of radeo or other playback. Do I have an install nightmare here or shall I take to Best Buy and pay for an install...please advise. if easy and only need to find a switching wire...where do I find the dash of where my existing stock radio is??just splice and pull under the carpet to the other wires already in place?? Any help or advise is appreciated.

I would like to install this into my 2002 Ford Explorer

You need the Metra 70-1771 Receiver Wiring Harness. You can enter this wiring harness under google search then select the web shopping option. Or you can copy and paste this link:

IF you google it under shopping remember you will find same item for lower cost. Your choice

most people dont know this but the brake cable from the DVD player usually its pink, you tie it together with the vehicles black ground cable. This will allow you to use the DVD player while driving. (remember though its considered illegal in CA. I only let you know for informational purposes. Hope it helped

I hook my farenheit dvd player up every thing comes on but no sounds comes out of it what could i have wrong

It looks like a stand alone dvd player from the picture and there is no sound power so to speak for those units just a left and right audio signal ( Red and White ) Yellow is for video of course. Make sure you have the red and white audio OUT going into the INPUT of your power ( your main radio ) and as long as your radio is working correctly you should have sound. Some of those stand alone units come with a 3.5 mm or 1/8 jack and you have to make sure which is audio and which is video and get them to the right inputs of your radio. if that doesn't work check your radio am/fm or cd player and if sound works with them it is probably not getting the audio signal correctly. Good Luck !

No power to DVD portable unit

If you purchased an extended service plan from Best Buy, then it's not voided just because they don't carry the product any more. Mobile electronics change yearly; almost nothing that was sold two years ago is still available. If your local store won't help you, contact the corporate offices at 1-888-Best Buy. They may not be able to replace the unit with the same model, but they are legally responsible for either repairing it or replacing it with something comparable.
