Another idea. Try the a/c battery adapter to power the unit. I assume it plugs into the camera someplace. If you don't have one, GENTLY try to remove the battery. Clean the contacts with a pencil eraser and replace or recharge the battery. That should make the tape mechanism work. Try forward, reverse, ff and rewind. Then try to eject the tape.
