Question about Samsung DouCam SCD-5000 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Samsung SCD5000 While in Camera mode, when I flip the switch from off to Record, the Camera lens does not pop out at all. No sounds no nothing this means I cannot take pictures. The LCD remains blank, with memory stick sign blinking. The camera has never dropped or knocked at any hard surface, and I do not use it heavily, At the moment, am forced to use the Camcorder mode to take still pictures, but the procedure is cumbersome, the picture quality is no good, and there is luck of a flash in this mode. What could be my problem? I love the Camera I wouldn?t wish to loose it this way, need help. Henry

Re: Samsung SCD5000

This camcorder/camera has a flexible harness which comes loose in the camera section and causes erratic operation in any mode depending on how the cable is seated in the connector. Samsung is aware of this and is reseating the cable and applying sticky tape to the harness to hold it in place. I would not recommend that you attempt the repair yourself, any good repair facility is aware of the problem. Good luck to you. Joe Weibel Custom Electronics (

I get the camera cover to open, but the camera doesn't record. It only works in the cassette mode ie play, stop, ff...

Check the tape carefuly. on the flat side of the cassette that faces upwards when you insert the cassette in the camera there is a 'record protect' switch which is coloured red. if it has completely covered the hole then it is in the 'save position' .in that case you wont be able to record , flip the switch outwards with your finger nail. it should now expose the small hole. you are now set to record. please make sure that you set the mode select switch on the camera to 'camera' position.

JVC GR-D270 MiniDV camera i dont see nothing to my lens

You have an internal "lens cap" that covers the lens to protect it when it is not in use. Look around the front of the camera, near the lens and you should find some sort of switch or lever that will open the lens cap.

No pic or sound when recording

Please get a Hi 8 cleaning cassette and run it in the camera for a few seconds. you may have to do this several times for the head to be completely cleaned unfortunately for Hi8 you will not hear the sound when there is no picture on playback.

No display in record mode on Samsung VP-D31

Sounds like you may have a problem in the auto iris curcuit or the auto settings was switched to manual and the lens is closed. Check first to see that the lens is setup in auto mode. If it is then the auto iris as i said before is bad or stuck closed unless the small caps in that curcuit went bad as they always do after a few years. Good Luck
