Buy an echo or a stihl... poulan rates this motor for 40 hours of use and then it is done.

head bolts came loose on mine piston slap wore out jug ring and piston. don't want to spend 40d on parts to repair a 100d unit

You can use an index card or a manila envelope to set the gap

I am not sure of the exact gap but I have been told you can use a business card thickness to set the gap. You might try that. Hope this helps. In addition, go to youtube.com videos will show you how to do it.

Poulan blower PPB430V will not start. New coil(set at 10) new carb kit. new plug. (plug wet when cranking) unhook kill switch, get good spark, check head bolts, Yet, Blower will not start, not even make an...

The plug gets wet and the unit has good spark? That only leaves you with two things....fuel and compression.
Dump it just be safe and mix up a batch of totally fresh fuel! You might even put a small amount of system cleaner into it to chase of water and remove gums and varnish too. Hey...if the rings are stuck it might even free them up! Kudos on checking the head bolts....they do often get loose and drop compression enough to prevent starting. Now that you have the head bolts ruled out check compression with a guage and see if you have 80-90 psi compression. Be safe and good luck!

Some of these small blowers end up with loose cylinder heads! If you can wiggle the spark plug and the whole head moves this may be your problem. When the cylinder is loose it wont move fuel properly into the combustion chamber because it moves up and down a little with the piston. If you want to be able to tighten the cylinder head yourself you need to make a couple holes around the spark plug opening so you can put a 3/16th hex key on the head bolts and tighten them.

The location varys but I usually see them when I make 1/2 inch holes in the cover at the 8 oclock and 2 oclock positions about an inch and a half from the spark plug. If you get the first hole wrong you can just drill another one in the adjacent corner *(its a 50/50 chance you put the hole over the bolts on the first try!) I have blowers that need a tighten every couple months and they run just fine! Check it out! Good luck and be careful!

HI THE FIRST THING TO DO IS REMOVE LEAD OFF SPARK PLUG TOP THEN REMOVE SPARK PLUG ITSELF YOU WILL NEED A SPARK PLUG REMOVER OR A SOCKET TO DO THIS AFTER REMOVING THE SPARK PLUG CLEAN OFF EXCESS OIL BY DIPPING IN CLEAN PETROLAND CLEANING WITH TOOTHBRUSH LET DRY THEN WITH A FOLDED PIECE OF WET AND DRY SANDPAPER GENTLY RUB BETWEEN THE SMALL GAP AT END OF SPARKPLUG THEN REPACE SPARKPLUG AND IN MOST CASES IT SHOULD START FIRST GO BESTALUCK GLENN
