Re: how do i download from windows media player library...
Be prepared to wait for a long time while the files are transferring and being converted. Open itunes, click on file then click on add folder to library. Browse to find your music folder, normally in my document, my music and select the folder my music by clicking on it once only, then click on ok. Your files will start to transfer and be converted by itunes. When i converted my library from media player it took a few hours to complete, so you need to be patient. Don't forget to only click on 'my music' folder once, you do not wantt do double click it because it will open the folder up, and if you want to transfer all of your music then you will only need to click on the folder once to select the whole folder.
I hope this helps
If it does not then let me know what happened

How to get music from your computer to your iPod music player.
1. Download iTunes and install it.
2. Launch iTunes and you can drag and drop the song files or folders with the music files to the iTunes window. The music files will then be added to the iTunes library.
3. Attach your iPod to the computer. You can then drag and drop the songs from the
iTunes library over to the iPod device, which should be listed on the left side.
Note: The first time you connect an iPod to a computer, it may ask you to setup the device with a name and a few other preferences.
4. It can take a while for music files to transfer. You can see the progress of the file transfer at the top of the iTunes screen. When you are done moving files to the iPod, you can eject it by pressing the eject icon next to the device on the left side.
You can also use this player to transfer you download from computer to an ipod.
Downloading music from your hard-drive to you Ipod is done with the program called Itunes. This program comes with your Ipod purchase or can be downloaded at http://www.apple.com. The software is vital because it not only allows you to purchase from the popular Itunes music service, it's also the only way you can transfer songs onto your Ipod.
So let's look into the Itunes software, and more specifically, the Itunes library that is used to transfer songs from your hard-drive to your Ipod. You'll find it on the left hand panel of the program. Your library contains all your songs, movies, and podcast that you want to transfer over. Through the Itunes library, you'll be able to use their drag-and-drop feature for easy and fast transfer to your Ipod.
Before we move one to the next step, it should be made clear that songs that are downloaded from P2P clients might not show up on the Itunes library. You must add them manually, because you will not be able to transfer any songs until they are integrated into your Itunes library. Doing this is simple. Click on file>add file to library, locate the file you want to add, and press enter to complete the process. There is also the 'add folder to library' function which allows you to transfer a whole folder of songs into the Itunes library. This is quite handy to have if most of your songs are stored in one place on your hard drive.
Alright, let's get back on track here. You know the proper steps in which to keep your Itunes library updated now, and the last step is a breeze. Plug in your Ipod to the USB port in your computer, and you'll notice the new option to add songs from your Itunes library to the Ipod. Click and drag your files into the Ipod transfer screen and then you're done! You're now ready to explore the wonderful world of music without the burden of a large cumbersome computer to haul alongside you!
Load music into your iTunes library by either purchasing tracks or CDs online from the iTunes store, which is accessible through the iTunes interface, or insert CDs into your CD-ROM drive and rip them into your iTunes library by clicking "Import Music" within your iTunes interface.
Uncheck any songs that you do not wish to be transferred from your iTunes library to your iPod, for the iTunes library will automatically begin downloading all songs (which are checked by default) to your iPod upon connection.
Connect your iPod to your computer via the USB port that came with the purchase of your iPod. Click on "iPod" located under the "Devices" category to begin the syncing process if your computer does not begin automatically downloading music to your iPod..
You just need to import your song into iTunes library, then make a playlist with the songs, plug in your iPod to computer, iTunes will detect the iPod automatically, then click iTunes menu "File -> Sync iPod", the songs will be transferred from iTunes to iPod.

windows media player is not suppose and will not operate apples ipod.....go to www.apple.com and download itunes.....this will recognize your ipod and help you manage your songs....(once itunes is downloaded scan pc for music files).......you still can use window media player just not with ipod..you can either get tunes via itunes or (limewire, frostwire or bearshare)
Just go to the file menu in itunes. Use one of the import buttons. You can import your whole library, some files, or individual songs. Then upload them to the ipod by selecting songs and adding them to the ipod play list.
I know there is a way around using itunes, by setting the ipod to be used as data storage and then using it like any other mp3 player transfering directly from your library. I have never used it this way so I can't help any more then that. I had already been settled with using itunes before i found out about that, otherwise i likely would have.
