Question about Audio & Video Receivers

We have the RCA RS2767i Home Stereo with 5-disc changer and ipod dock. The CD Tray won't eject or shuffle...everything else works fine. It seems the disc tray isn't responding to anything. We read in the manual to remove all cd's and try again but were only able to manually remove 3 of the 5 cd's because it doesn't shuffle and it says not to manually force the changer to turn. It won't play or shuffle cd's or even open/close the cd tray not matter what we do... Thanks for your help.

We can't get our CD Tray to even open! Radio works fine and that's as far as we've made it since we can't test a CD. Is there a screw or something that needs to be removed before it will open or do we need to return the system?

We have the RCA RS2767i 5 CD changer and the tray will no longer open or eject CD's. It is less than a year old.

I just bought this stereo a few days ago. It worked fine like the first two days but now it shuts off a few brief moments after I turn it on. When I turn it back on the volume and cd tray doesn't work. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get them to work, but again it shuts off by itself after a minute or two. Can this be fixed or would I be wasting my time? From the sounds of things I bought a **** stereo. Guess I know better than to buy RCA's anymore.

Let me respond with a possible solution although I'd bet that both of you already tried these.

The reason I checked into this is because I'm looking for a new mini system. I happen to be at Target and they only had 2 models - this one and a SONY. I certainly didn't want to buy the RCA given these problems, so I asked the salesperson, who seemed to have some knowlege.

As far as opening the tray on top, there is a button to push right under the tray. The button has an icon of a triangle on it. This seems to be somewhat of a standard icon for opening the tray or ejecting a CD (my car's CD has the same icon for ejecting a CD).

As far as only being able to get 3 CD's out, there is another button under the tray marked "disc skip". This rotates the tray. When you open the tray, you can only get to 3 of the CD's. When you push disk skip, it rotates the tray one position, so you can get the 4th one out. Another push and now you can get the 5th one.

Sometimes my CD changer doesn't shuffle the disks. If I only have 1 CD or DVD in it and push the tray open button, the disk stays in the unit and the tray revolves to an intermediate position. I push the button to put the tray back and try disc skip; that usually works.

If your problems are not solved per above, then I definitely do NOT want to get this.

Hi I have a jvc xl m500 6 disc cd changer and the tray won't open help.

I had the same problem. Out of the blue, neither the single tray nor the cassette would eject. On top of that, it wouldn't change discs or even play the disc in the engaged tray. I then unplugged the unit, moved it to my work table, plugged it back it, and it worked fine.
Last year I had a similar problem with the JVC receiver RX750V that I had bought along with the CD player, probably around 1986--it simply would not turn on. I took it out of the cabinet, and shipped it to a JVC repair shop called BC Electronics, Levittown, PA 215 547-7600. They were very knowledgeable and courteous, but said they could find nothing wrong with the unit, and that the unit worked fine. They shipped it back, and the unit worked fine initially. I found that the problem recurred, i.e. that every so often I'd turn the machine on via the on-off switch, and nothing would happen. If I then unplugged the unit, left it off for a while, and plugged it back in, it would work fine. I then installed an in-line on-off switch on the receiver cord. It now seems to work fine consistently.
It seems that after twenty years, this same problem may affect this generation of JVC components, i.e. that the main power source to the unit must occasionally be cut off.
On the other hand I could be completely wrong and just plain lucky...Hope that helps.

Hook up patio speakers and use my cd/dvd/cable/ipod outside only

i'm not sure if this will work, but you could try connecting the rca stereo cables from you cable box to the cd input on the receiver those would be analog. then you could use the music channels at least. as for an ipod maybe sort of the same thing using an av cable instead of the dock;like i said i don't know if it will work but just a thought.

Will NAD 712 accept an iPod Docking Station?

A 712 is not set up to use an Ipod USB dock.  You can buy a dock that will use RCA jacks into an old stereo - Apple sells them, others too.  Then the Ipod sits up and you can look at it.  Or you can buy the 1/8" stereo plug to two RCA plugs that Radio Shack has been selling for 30-40 years, plug one end into your Ipod headphone jack, and run the two RCA plugs into your Aux input.  That costs about $5, and is easy as pie.  An Ipod will play through any old receiver, but the USB docks will not plug into them.

I have a mp3 player and i would like to play it on my home stereo. It has inputs for cd player, phono all using rca jacks. I tried to use a mp3 jack from my player to the rca jacks boy I got alot os noise...

Hi,
You may have a bad cable. Go pick up one of those cables designed for iPods that plugs into the headphone jack on the player, that ends with two RCA plugs. If that cures it, the other cable was bad.
The BEST way to do it though, is if there is a docking station made for your player that has RCA connectors on the back, so that you can use normal RCA cables.

Our sony hcd-hpz9 stereo will not allow the 5 disc changer to open. It will play disc 1 only. Any suggestions. It makes a rumbling noise. Is there a way to manually open the disc changer?

this is done by a belt drive. i have seen the belts get old and slip. try to gently pull the door open as you hit eject. If you get it to open and find that it will not fully open or close without assistance this is the problem.

I connected my 30 gig ipod to my sharp 5 disc shelf stereo. it connects with a usb.. now my ipod will not shutoff or pause.. itunes does not recognize that an ipod is connected.. i have not connected...

make sure that your shelf stereo in IPOD ready most unit need a bridge of some sort or a dock. If your receiver is ready and it is not working still then the problem is in the multi media device.
