Thanks, where did you dissolve the dried ink from? The print head (I think that means the 2 piece plastic box that that the cartridges fit into?)

I have cleaned and deep cleaned several times, aligned and checked all possibilities.

    Thanks again.

Click Frequently Asked Questions. Type in "prints missing colors" ... Looks like you may have to replace the print head, which presumably would relatively expensive compared to the price of the printer.

BUT FIRST:
Type in "clean print head". Up come directions for a "head refreshing" ... You may need to do that several times, then do a print pattern check.

If worst comes to worst:

Another option here may very much be worth a try, at a price hard to beat:
    http://www.weeno.com/art/0899/140.shtml

I used 70 percent alcohol to dissolve, literally, a ***** of half-dried ink and it worked great. Use the highest purity you can find, though, if you're trying this.

That was an odd word to get censored. Anyway, the alcohol dissolved a small ... mountain ... of ink.

HI, I have full ink cartridges, but magenta does not print. I have done cleaning and deep cleaning. The cartridges are fully unpacked (no tape over ink heads). There are no error messages, but no...

The ink may have settled and may be somewhat dry - shake the cartridge vigorously to loosen the ink and apply denatured alcohol to the print head nozzles on the cartridge - apply a generous amount and let it soak for a few minutes.

My printer is not printing magenta. I have changed the cartridge (hp one), cleaned the print heads and

The magenta print head may be blocked. Try several deep cleaning of the print head to see if it can clear the blocked magenta print nozzles. Also check the magenta cartridge, make sure it is not empty.
If none of this works then the print head needs to be replaced.
NOTE the print head is not a cheap item, you may consider putting the money towards a new and better printer.

Either the ink you are using is not going to give the color you want, or you have print heads that are blocked.

MAGENTA NOT PRINTING

The other week I had the black print head clog up, requiring daily nozzle deep cleaning [a normal 'ocassional' maintenance function]. Thought I needed a new Print head, so anything worth a try.
I loaded up an old black cartridge [I load all my own......always have] with Isopropyl Alcohol and ran deep clean on that cartridge a couple of times, then repeat printed [6 times] a page full of the number 8 in about half inch character size, to get the alcohol through the nozzles. then Deep cleaned again 3 times, to wash it through the print head.

I reloaded the normal ink filled cartridge and ran the '8' page again till I got good black output. It has now been working without problem, daily, for over a week. Clearly if it's a Magenta only problem, the cleaning as described above would be a bit different, as the magenta is one of 4 colour cartridges.
My printer does quite a lot of work, and was bought at least a couple of years ago, being used daily for alpha numeric and photo printing work. This was the first difficulty I experienced with it.
Hope the above might help.Ken

IP4300 only recognizes magenta OR cyan

1. Get compressed air
2. Run Printhead under HOT water, do not worry about contacts getting slightly wet.

3. Blow compressed air with straw attachment into screens where the cartridge nozzle sits on printhead. then let it sit and dry.

4. reinstall print test page

5. if this fails open paint/photoshop and print a page of the color that is not printing correctly. rinse and repeat until colors flow freely.

I have several ip4300s and I have yet to give up the ghost on a printer with a clog ujsing this method.

My magenta will not print well

Here's what you should do. Remove all ink cartridges. Get some rubbing alcohol, preferrably 91% proof (leaves less moisture) Get a couple normal paper towels. Check each cartridge for dried ink and remove it using an alcohol wetted paper towel. (The deep cleaning procedures aren't always effective.) The gold contacts on each cartridge should be gold when you are done. Use the same procedure on the gold contacts of the ink cartridge housing inside the printer. Take your time, do it well. If that does not fix the problem, then do the following. Switch the black and magenta cartridge. Some printers won't print when you do this, other printers don't know the difference. If your printer is the later, then attempt a print job using a page that has a line of both black and magenta text. If you see a black print, then the problem is your magenta cartridge (despite having installed a new one) If the magenta prints, then you know the magenta cartridge is good. If the magenta prints but the black doesn't, then you have a printer failure. Let me know your results. ZT3000 Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"
