Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer
As far as I am aware a 5100 error is a carriage problem and shouldn't be affected by what the printer is connected to. Have you confirmed that the printer doesn't display the error when connected to a Windows based machine such as a laptop? If it does then check that nothing is obstructing the carriage from moving across the printer and that the timing **** (clear plastic) is not damaged.
