First you have to take out the battery and use charger to turned on and when it turn on just put on the battery or take out the battery and wait for minutes then put it on and tur on,if that doesn't work when you turn on just hold R and start or repair it
The problem must be of your charger not of the console as it shows charging for a while...try replacing the charger..you can verify a charger problem for free in any sony shops..or by a 5v dc input...
I take it by "open up" you mean when you power on your psp yes?
by "there's nothing"do you mean blank screen? no power light? no loading?
From what i make of it your psp is not loading when the battery is inserted only, it will load when the battery is removed and the charger is plugged in only. After it has loaded you are able to insert the battery and remove the charger and you try to keep your psp running continuously so you don't need to take the battery out.
If I am correct in my interpretation you have a faulty battery that should be replaced.
It sounds like your charger is faulty, if it doesn't work with no battery. I would try new one and work from there. If that doesn't work, your PSP may be properly broken, but I guess it is the charger!
the usb for the psp is only for tranfering data not for charging you still have to plug the original power supply charger in when your psp is connected to your pc
if you tried to take youre psp battery apart to try and make a pandoras battery then all you need to do to turn it on is to take battery out plug charger in turn on put battery back in pull charger out and ther you go. if thats not youre case thene im sorry
this is easy i solved it! buy a charger from gamestop that you have to take the battery out and then put it in the charger and charge it that way! that way if your fuse inside your psp is out it will charge the battey without putting it in the psp so all you do with the item is: take your battery out, put it in the alternative charger from gamestop (does not come with psp slim 2001 or 2000) plug the charger in the while charge the battery then bam!! there you go problem solved have a fun time playing your psp!
