Hi and welcome to FixYa,

You posted under a Whirlpool GS460 Gas Kitchen Range with an F5 - E1 error. This error code indicates " Self clean latch will not lock" which is actually the reverse of your stated concern "After self cleaning the oven door never unlock".

  • State: A conflicting condition, the mechanical is actually latched hence the door could not be opened, however, the sensor is telling the system that the latch will not lock;
  • Diagnosis: faulty sensor.
  • Recommended action: check sensor, continuity test (VOM or DVM), replace if deemed defective. To gain access, it will benecessary that the panels be removed.
An exploded parts diagram is available here to help you visualize parts location. Additionally, Whirpool error codes with solutions are posted here. Pls click on "Whirlpool Range / Stove / Oven Fault Codes".

In some instances, just letting it sit to "dry out" clears the problem. It may also speed things up with a spray of compressed air on the inside.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Unplug the power cord, let the oven cool down and see if the error disappear, if it doesnt , that means that the temperature proble had blown because of high temperature during self cleaning.

Sorry about my first diagnoisys, I looked into the service manual, E1 - F5 fault code means that you have aproblem with the door switch or latch assembly.

To fix it follow the instructions below:

    "

    1. Disconnect power from unit.

    2. Check
wires and connectors from control to door switch, then from door switch
to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to
      step C.

    3. Replace door switch.

    4. Re-apply power.

    5. Press
and hold any key down for 1 minute to clear F5 failure code from
memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure
      operation is correct."

Hope the solution was solid enough.

Whirlpool 8053294 door locked

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

This is a common problem. In the upper back of your range you have a small motor which can fail and not rotate to unlock the door.

You need to pull your unit out to get behind it. Unplug your unit. Remove the top back cover and disconnect the motor. The rotate the oven door latch shaft to open the door.

Go into the following website. Input your model number (on the left) and you will get diagrams and part numbers for the repair.

Oven door is locked with food in it how to unlock asap

Hi , Anon !
My name is Ashlynn .
If your oven is locked , here's some ways you can unlock it :
  • 1 Look for a manual lever to unlock the oven. If there is one, it will probably swing back and forth horizontally, just below the upper edge of the oven door.
  • 2 Swing the locking lever, if one is present, all the way to the left. This should unlock the oven. If there is no manual lever to unlock the oven, it may be unlocked using push-button controls.
  • 3 Check to see if the oven is in a self-cleaning cycle, or has just completed a self-cleaning cycle. If so, the door will unlock automatically once the oven has finished the cleaning cycle and cooled completely, which may take several hours. You cannot unlock the oven before it has cooled.
  • 4 Unlock the "Clean/Off" button. Depending on the brand and model of your oven, the button may display both of these designations or just one. If your oven door is locked, but the oven is not warm and is not in a cleaning cycle, unlock it by pressing and holding the "Clean/Off" button.

But it seems you have food inside so ,
Press cancel on the cooking cycle , and let it cool to room temperature , and then try to open your oven .

While self cleaning, we experienced a power surge. now the doors will not open and we can not get it to reset. F9-2 is the error message.

    Hi happytrailri,

The F9-2 error code is a Latch, Unlock Upper. Check for obstruction in door lock mechanism.

    Hope it helps.

    Thank you for using FixYa.

I have a whirlpool oven self-cleaning.. get code F5E1 or FSEI, when i set the self cleaning?

I live in apartment with a Whirlpool dishwasher and oven. Today was my first day to do automatic clean. After two minutes the "F5SEI" would pop up, then the door would unlock. I repeated this a couple of times. My mind wondered about a water source; perhaps the dishwater. Fortunately, I had a load of dishes ready to go. So I started the dishwasher, then the automatic clean on the oven. Behold! They work together like homies :)

Did the self clean and now the oven door will not unlock

    Hi
Door is not unlocking as the control has detected a problem with door latch switch or the cycle was interupted in between. Switch off the power and unplug it from the mains. Check after 5-6 minutes whether you are able to unlock the door. If the error is still there then once again start the self clean cycle. Press the self-clean button to start the cycle. The panel becomes blank (---), then press the up arrow (^). The panel will appear 3:00 (indication for the duration of self-cleaning). The oven will lock on its own and start the self-cleaning. After self cleaning is done wait for 15-20 minutes and open the door. Try moving the latch manually to unlock it. Please post back for any further assistance...

We have a GE convection oven. Every time I go to turn on the oven, the words "DOOR" come on and then the oven shuts off. So frustrating. My husband's hungry!

    Hi,

there are several possible causes for this symptom. The most common are...in my experience.

    1) the self clean monitor switch is "open" (have you recently done a self-clean cycle ?)

    2) the electronic relay control (erc) is faulty. (hopefully not)

It is most likely the first possible cause. The first thing to try of which you can do on your own is shutting off the 40amp breaker to the unit for a couple of minutes, or unplugging the unit from the wall, they both accomplish the same thing. If that doesn't yield any remedy, try selecting a self clean cycle, allow the door to lock, then cancel the cycle and allow it to unlock. The lock switch (s) may just be stuck in the wrong position for normal bake and broil operations.

Let me know how that goes and we'll deal with whatever happens as a result, hopefully success and a yummy supper for everyone !

    Good Luck :)

It is not the temperature probe.

I have sent you a message afterward, I guess you did not receive it, that is because of a system problem.

I repeat here my additional message:
