Re: Did self cleaning and door never unlock
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
You posted under a Whirlpool GS460 Gas Kitchen Range with an F5 - E1 error. This error code indicates " Self clean latch will not lock" which is actually the reverse of your stated concern "After self cleaning the oven door never unlock".
State: A conflicting condition, the mechanical is actually latched hence the door could not be opened, however, the sensor is telling the system that the latch will not lock;
Diagnosis: faulty sensor.
Recommended action: check sensor, continuity test (VOM or DVM), replace if deemed defective. To gain access, it will benecessary that the panels be removed.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Error E1 F5 means that the control has detected a problem with door latch switch.Switch off the power and unplug it from the mains. Check after 5-6 minutes whether the error has disappeared. If the error is still there then once again start the self clean cycle. Press the self-clean button to start the cycle. The panel becomes blank (---), then press the up arrow (^). The panel will appear 3:00 (indication for the duration of self-cleaning). The oven will lock on its own and start the self-cleaning. After self cleaning is done wait for 15-20 minutes and open the door. Try moving the latch manually to unlock it. hope this helps...
Door is not unlocking as the control has detected a problem with door latch switch or the cycle was interupted in between.Switch off the power and unplug it from the mains. Check after 5-6 minutes whether you are able to unlock the door. Please post back for any further assistance...
Hi .The oven door will not unlock until it cools down despite the cycle being finished.If it has not opened in a maximum of 1 or 2 hrs then oven sensor failed during self clean cycle and will have to be replaced.Try restarting self clean to unlock door .If not you will have to do the old coat hanger trick or manually move the lock mech. from rear,sensor cost $30-40.Hop this helps .Please rate my response :)
Door lock motor has probably failed.....On many freestanding stoves the
lock motor is located in the right rear (looking from the front) with a
long rod connected to the lock. remove the motor and unhook the rod
from the motor cam. Push or pull the rod to unlock the door
Self clean on many ovens can be a self destruct mode. Door latch motors, sensor probes and even the electronic controls can be destroyed by this operation. Suggest oven cleaner method next time.
