Question about GE Profile JB968 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

F2 Error My GE profile range has issues when I try to cook above 350 degrees.... it either beeps loudly and displays an F2 error.... or just quietly shuts off without a peep. Is it possible for an oven to "overheat"? We cut the power at the circuit breaker (as suggested in the manual) but it had no effect. can anyone help? Thanks! Traci

Traci, F2 is the error code for a overtemp in the oven compartment. It could be two things. The oven temp. sensor or the main board itself. Start with the temperature sensor. It should ohm out at 1080 ohms at room temp. This of course is the least expensive and probably your problem. The temp sensor is the probe that is in the back wall of the oven. It will remove from the front with two screws. There will be a harness that you can disconnect it from when pulling it out. Some one can ohm it out there. The other possibility is welded relay contacts on the main board. Let's hope it's the sensor. Part number WB21T10007. Catriver..post back.

I tried to reset the time on my stove and it started beeping and flashing F2. why

The error code "F2" will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC (Electronic Range Control) or "clock" senses a runaway heat condition during the "cook" or the "clean" modes. It could be caused by the oven temperature sensor, by the ERC or by the wire harness between the oven temperature sensor and the ERC. If the error code "F2" is displayed in the "cook" or "clean" modes only, then the problem is a bad oven temperature sensor or its wire harness. If the error code "F2" is displayed in the time of the day mode also, then most likely a problem is the bad ERC.To get the right replacement part just click on the link AppliancePartsPros,

Unplug the range.
The oven temperature sensor has failed and must be replaced.
Remove the racks. Remove the temperature sensor located up high on the back wall of the oven.
It is a short thin round piece of metal.

GE Self Cleaning Gas Range F2 Error, happens at 400 degrees and turns oven off any advice?

Your oven temperature sensor must be replaced. It is located in the oven compartment up high, may be right or left side depending on model. Smaller than a pencil about 3&1/2 inches long.

The F2 typically means an overtemperature conditions:
1. over 650 degrees F unlatched or 915 degrees F latched.
2. cooling fan stalled while over above 650 degrees F or an oper thermal switch in the yellow leads.
Check for:
