Well, it's great and wonderful that you have a high-speed internet service, but your TV's audio isn't biased about internet connections. You forgot to plug in the line-in cable from the green port of your computer to your TV.

My GEM GL-1821A Computer monitor has a high pitch squeak that is intermittent in occurrence but sometimes continues for long periods of time. Got any ideas?

A high-pitch squeal is common in CRT TV sets and monitors. I've never run across this in an LCD monitor, but there's a first time for everything. If the sound isn't coming through built-in speakers (if this model has them) and is being caused by the computer, I would suspect the inverter circuitry. This provides power for the backlight, and there are transformers that may have become noisy. Because of their construction, it's possible for them to vibrate internally, and at a frequency that you hear as the high-pitched noise. There isn't a lot you can do to quiet them. When I worked on TV sets, I had mixed success using hot-melt glue to muffle the noise, but usually the only way to completely cure the problem was to replace the parts. It's unlikely you'll find the parts available for a monitor, so all I can suggest is to bear with the noise as long as the monitor is otherwise working properly. Or use this as an excuse to buy a new LCD monitor; they are quite reasonably priced these days.

Hi. I connected a 26 inch Insignia TV to a Dell

Check the master volume of the computer by double clicking the speaker icon or going to the control panel. THere should be an option for all aspects of the volume and see if there are items set to a minimum. Try another speaker if it helps if not, have the sound card inspected in the device manager. The error code should tell if it is a driver issue or may just need reinstalling.

No picture on Samsung LCD 40" TV

Nobody could guess that! it depends on where you are in the world. For Instance I am in australia network.
Call outs generally run to $AUD90 and $90 and hour Min 1 hour.
You do not say whethyer the power light lights up so its again guesswork.
If the power light IS lit then there is power from the wall to the primary coil of the power transformer. I would then suspect either the secondary transformer has failed, or that a fuse after the secondary and pre picture/sound module has blown. The power supply ( cant by bits) costs around $200. The fuse 0.60
add to the callout fees and you get some idea of the cost can cost half the value if a $1000 TV The plasma screen hasnt gone so that's always a plus and its rare for the video board and sound module to fail simultaneously. So my bet is the poer supply side and fuse

I installed w1907 monitor all fine except now I have no sound

DVI is a hardware interface. It's a type of plug.

Does your monitor have speakers built into it?

On many computers, the output for the sound is very near the output for the monitor. Is it possible that you loosened the wire for the sound when you installed the monitor (plugged it in), or unplugged the sound altogether and plugged it back into the wrong place? The outbound sound hole on most, but not all, computers is green.

All computers have at least two places to plug in sound, most have 3, and the newer machines have 6. If you are unsure which is the correct hole to plug that sound wire into, you can play something on your computer that makes sound for a while (like a song) and move the plug from one to the other until sound is heard.

If you have 6 holes that the sound wire fits, you most likely have software on your computer that pops up and tells you were you have plugged it in.

If the speakers are built into the new monitor, check the monitor for controls and ensure that the volume controls are not all the way down.

All of these solutions are hardware solutions. Now, we have software solutions:

Open the control panel and find Sounds and Audio controls. Open that.

Check to see that nothing has "mute" checked.

Check also to see that the sound levels are high enough to hear something.

Good luck.

did you have an installation disk?? If so it may not have loaded in the setting to make the sound card accept the monitor..Or simpler--is the right wire plugged into your computer for the sound??
color codes don't always match for generics.

Monitor made a popping sound and went blank. no computer or tv signal coming through.

Sounds like a Power Supply comcponent failure in the high voltage panel supply circuit.
Backlight power seems to be ok.

Can only suggest obtaining repair quotations vs. Replacement purchase?

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

I start my computer and turn it on, and everything looks fine for about 1/4 of a second and then it goes black while leaving the power light green. I can only see the screen again after turning it off and on, but that's only for another 1/4 second. What's up?
I got my rosewill flatscreen as a hand me down from my father. I've had it for several years now. Was working fine until a month ago. When I turn the computer on the screen goes black after 1/4 of a saecond. I have to turn it off and on anywhere from 10 to 20 times before it stays on. I have checked all plugs to the computer and outlets. I have absolutely no idea whats causing this.
