Canon PowerShot A590 IS problem downloading images to a windows vista machine

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

HELLO,
TO MAKE IT SIMPLE ,WHY DON'T YOU USE "A CARD READER" THAT COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR MEMORY CARD..
IT IS ABOUT 5.00-7.00 USD..WITH THAT CARD READER-WRITER YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU NEED AS YOU ARE DOING WITH USB FLASH MEMORY UNITS..BELIEVE ME THIS IS THE EASIEST WAY TO DOWNLOAD YOUR PHOTOS..
PLS REMEMBER AFTER DOWNLOAD YOU NEED TO FORMAT THE MEMORY CARD FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE..

How do i get date and time on photo after downloading using canon A590 IS

Hi,

The only way to get the date and time on the pictures now is to use a photo editing program that has a text option. (e.g. Paint, Photoshop, etc.)

What you need to do if you want the date and time is to use the menu options on your camera to select it. Then when you download them the date and time will be on them.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Buy a card reader for cheap and download photos using card reader. Remove SD card from camera and insert into card reader, then hookup card reader to computer through USB port. Try Picasa3 free software from Google to download images. Works great and all is inexpensive
