Your hard drive should be split into 2 partitions, C: Acer and D: Data. Turn your system on, and when the screen comes on with the ACER logo, press DEL or F2 to enter your BIOS, this should be listed at the bottom of the screen (settings). Have a look around and find the option that says D2D Recovery. Make sure this is ENABLED. If you highlight this, on the right of the screen it will show you what keys to press. This will be something like, Ctrl+Alt+F10. Save these settings and exit.

The system will now reboot. When the screen comes on with the ACER logo, press the keys that it just showed you in the BIOS, similar to the ones I listed above. The + means you need to hold the keys down together. This will start the Acer eRecovery program. Follow the on-screen instructions to set it back to factory settings.

Hope this helps

Do you mean a fresh install?

  1. Make sure you have ALL your software and drivers for ALL your equipment. Including a valid copy of Windows.
  2. Put your install cd in the drive and boot to it.
  3. Follow the instructions for formatting and reloading your system.
  4. Install all MS updates, updated drivers and software after the initial OS load.
WARNING, there is no going back after you format. Be sure you know what you are doing as this is typically a last ditch effort to fix issues.

You want to clean off your laptop so it looks like it came from the factory? Wipe out all the files you've put on it, and only have a fresh operating system?

-- Make sure you have the "Factory restore" or "system restore" discs from Acer. They can ship another copy to you for $5.
-- Make sure you have the Windows product key code, readable. (My sticker wore off in a hurry).
-- IF you are giving your computer to someone else, download Darin's Boot and Nuke, and use that to purge the hard drive of everything, using the default recommended thing, like 5 or 7 passes
-- Restart using the factory restore discs, and follow instructions.

Hi I am trying to reboot dads computer I have rebooted my laptop once I know what I am doing... But I dont have a acer I have something else.. so I was wondering when I put the pc on it says reboot...

Hi

When you say "reboot" do you mean restart? Is the Computer not restarting(rebotting) properly? If you just want to boot it into safe mode then you press F8 to get to safe mode.

If you mean you want to re-install windows or need to boot from CD/DVD, then you can press F12 as you mentioned and then pick boot from cd/dvd.

If you want to use the recovery partition that is on the hardrive then you need to press F10 or F11 when you switch the computer on and this will take you to recovery disk. (REMEMBER TO FIRST BACK UP YOU DATA BEFORE DOING THIS)

I hope one of these help, if not give me more information on what you plan to do or what is wrong with your PC

My new acer works fine but there is something loading in the middle of the screen and i cant get rid of it .... how ?

these are system set up routines, when you first boot up Acer laptops they configure themselves, then reboot about 4 times, to load all the drivers and pre installed software, but if its taking too long (hours) then you need to speak to Acer technical, see below for tel no.s
