If this woofer has it's own built in amp, it might be your rca cables, try moving them around. Anytime you have sound signal wires crossing power cords you must have them cross like T and not ll you get what I mean? just try keeping power away from sound. GOOD LUCK.

Loud humming sound

Make sure that the input connection ground is good. If that does not cure the loud hum then you have a power supply issue.

My Boston Acoustics ASW 650 just turned off yesterday and wont turn back on. What could be wrong?

Check for the wires connections on all the terminals.
Else it is a minor problem due to power fluctuations.
Take it to a nearby technician.

Boston acoustics subwoofer won't turn on

Hello
Did you find the value of ZD3.
I need it too.
I have the same problem, and I take out the ZD3 and the subwoofer works. But I'm not sure that is correct. I think it may be the circuit stand by.

Boston Acoustics subwoofer keeps cutting out

Some subwoofers have a turn-on delay circuit at the input to prevent "popping". Unless the input remains at a certain level, the delay circuit turns off the sub. The only solution I have found is to change to another sub that is not so protective

Nr 1402 receiver marantz

You need to make sure the sub is plugged into the sub pre out connector. Not the the sub out. You might also have to go to the user menu and tell the unit that you are using a sub.

I have a Boston Acoustics VR-500 Subwoofer with a problem. As soon as anything is plugged into the line level RCA jacks, the subwoofer produces a loud buzz/hum. I have tried connecting it to the subwoofer...

I'm thinking you have an open shield ground on the RCA input side. Connecting speaker inputs possibly restores the ground. Try connecting the high level inputs then disconnect the remote end of the cables (floating the grounds).

Then get out an ohmmeter and find that open circuitor or bad solder joint between RCA ground and real ground in the speaker's amplifier. Or.... if speaker ground kills the hum and you want to use RCA Line Level input to the sub, just connect one minus speaker output on your source amp to one minus on the sub's amp.

I get a red light on the back panel labeled power. No green light. I don't think the PV 600 is working but when I run the channel check through my Pioneer THX receiver I hear sound. Any thoughts?

The PV600 and PV400 have auto-on circuitry that turns the subwoofer on when a signal is presented, and turns off if no signal is detected for 15 minutes.

Not knowing which Pioneer receiver you have I have dropped in the steps for No Sound from Subwoofer:

• Check that the subwoofer is connected properly, switched on and the volume turned up.

• If your subwoofer has a sleep function, make sure it is switched off.

• Make sure that the Subwoofer setting is YES or PLUS (see Speaker Setting on page xx).

• The crossover frequency may be set too low; try setting it higher to match the characteristics of your other speakers (see Speaker Setting on page xx)

• If there is very little low frequency information in the source material, change your speaker settings to Front: SMALL / Subwoofer: YES , or Front: LARGE / Subwoofer: PLUS (see Speaker Setting on page xx).

• Check that the LFE channel is not set to -80dB , or a very quiet setting (see Bass Peak Level

on page xx).

• Check the speaker level settings (see Channel Level on page xx).

Regarding the Large vs Small assignment of speakers, what they mean isn't so much the physical size but the ability to handle real bass. Large if Yes.

How do i connect my boston acoustics pv800 subwoofer to my Harmon Kardon AVR 520 reciever?

You need to use the LINE LEVEL connection on the pv800 (usually a rca type connector cable) and run this cable into the back of the HK 520 Subwoofer PRE-OUT connector, be sure the HK Receiver menu speaker set-up option is set to SUBWOOFER "YES"

no the subwoofer resinates the low base frequency sound, but it should be loud enough to be annoying if its turned up, check your connections, , you should also be able to feel the vibration from the woofer.......if connections are ok, it may be defective
