Unable to brew.

When the unit is plugged in it says "not ready". Also, there is a series of 5 numbers that blink to the left of it. We cannot get the unit to brew. How do we solve this problem.

If the temp lights are flashing a tru 5x's The temp sensor may be loose on the front control board. Also check the blue wire as well as the black wire that leads to the heater relay on the front board for melting at the relay.. Als be sure to check if you have any other light flash codes.. NOTE:.. You can get these code discriptions by removing the lid(one screw) and looking on the underside for a discription of the codes and the errors

All lights are blinking on coffee maker & unable to brew.

The cups only brew one mug at a time. Open and close the lid to check if that resets itself.
Otherwise, turn the machine off and on again to "reset" the function. Also check that there is enough water

Hi
You must make sure that the brew unit is ready to reinsert into the machine. To return the brew group to the centered position, you first need to drop the funnel. To do this, look on the opposite side of the brew group from the handle. At the top you will see an object that looks like a sharks fin. If you follow this piece down you will see 2 horizontal bars on the brew group body. Push your finger between these 2 bars and the funnel will drop. Now you can push the puck slide on the left side down and to the center. If you look down through the funnel you should see a piston. This should be centered in the funnel. If not, locate the slide on the left side of the brew unit, (it should be hanging down, a flat rectangular piece attached to the cylinder) and push the slide to the right until it does. Push the press button and you are now ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine. First you must close the door with the drip tray and dredge drawer inserted and turn on the machine without having the brew group in. You will hear the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open the door and remove the tray, and dredge drawer, now replace the tray and insert the brew group. If it still won't go in check the cog in the back of the machine. There are 2 wide teeth that should be at the 10:00 and 12:00 position. If they are at a different position you have a broken drive gear.

Unable to reassemble. The removable brewing mechanism is out of synch with the motor. How do you reset the motor to the starting position so that I can reasemble it?

These are the directions for removing a stuck brew group. If the brew unit is ready to go back in the directions for resetting the drive gears is at the end.

Remove the dredge drawer. Open the door. On the left side of the brewing unit, and towards the back of the brew group, there is a single screw. Remove the screw. Grab the handle and pull carefully, but firmly with a quick ****. The brew group should come out. There is a piece that remains in the machine. Slide that piece down and to the right and it will come off. Insert the piece into the hole on the backside of the brew group with the clip up. Tighten the screw and move brew group back into position.
(You can insert your key into the hole in the front and twist the key to return the brew unit to the center. Line up the 2 diamonds and it centered) If you look down through the funnel you should see a piston. This should be centered in the funnel. If not, locate the slide on the left side of the brew unit,(it should be hanging down, a flat rectangular piece attached to the cylinder) and push the slide to the right until it does. Push the press button and you are now ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine. First you must close the door and turn on the machine without having the brew group in, but you must have your drip tray and dredge drawer in. Turn the machine on. You will hear the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open the door and remove the tray, now insert the brew group and replace the tray.

Motor stuck in brew postion wont reset even with the brew group out

Hi
Leave the brew unit out but put everything else back in and then turn the machine on. the brew drive should reset to where it should be so you can put the brew unit back in, but make sure that the brew unit is ready to install.
If you have you key you can insert it in the front of the brew unit. There is a round hold in the center below the "Push", and twist it clockwise until it stops and the 2 marks are lined up. If you don't have your key you can do this. Push the puck slide on the left side down and to the center. If you look down through the funnel you should see a piston. This should be centered in the funnel. If not, locate the slide on the left side of the brew unit, (it should be hanging down, a flat rectangular piece attached to the cylinder) and push the slide to the right until it does. Press the "Push" lever until you hear a click and you are now ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine.

The central unit LED blinks green and the machine does not turn on

Hi
The LED should be blinking red not green on a magic delux. The only green light is the boiler light for warming up or ready. If its the brew unit light it means its missing.
Open the door on the right. The brew unit is the thing with the handle that has the “press” on it. You need to push on the upper left side of the brew unit until it clicks. There is an outlet spout on the opposite side of where you are pushing. It goes into an intake port that needs to be lubed, so the outlet spout will slide in without pushing back. That should take care of the missing brew unit.

The coffee bean red light is on and it won't brew espresso. Cleaned out coffee bean compartment, turned off then back on and the light is still on and unable to brew. Have no idea where the manual is?...

Sounds like you have a blockage in you grind passage. Try removing the brew group. Then inside on the roof of the machine where the brew unit was setting there is a drop chute where the coffee is dropped into the brew unit. From the left side of the drop chute pull down and back, and it will drop coffee. This will clear an opening that relieves pressure on the passage. There is a passage inside the drop chute area that goes to the grinder. Vacuum it out. It will be on the backside of the drop chute.
Once that is cleared go to the bean hopper. There are 2 knobs in the bean hopper. Turn the large knob to the largest number. You can turn the knob to a larger number any time but it has to be grinding to turn to a smaller number. Now replace everything and make your coffee. Once you have made your coffee you can turn the knob back to a number that was higher than the one you had it on, but only when the grinder is running.

How do I pre brew

I got one of these for xmas, and I was able to program the pre-brew option.

First, turn off the machine.
On the front of the machine, there is series of 5 buttons. (From left to right, they are: Small Coffee, Large Coffee, Pre-ground Coffee, Hot water and Descaling.)

While holding down the 1st (Small coffee) and 4th (Hot water) buttons, turn on the power.
Wait 3-5 seconds before releasing these two buttons. You machine is now ready for programming.

Below the 5 buttons are 4 small lights. If the second light from the left is red, the machine is already programmed to pre-brew. If the light is not red, do the following:

Press the Coffee button (2nd button from the left) once and the second light from the left should glow red. This turns on pre-brewing. (Pressing the Coffee button again will turn off both the light and the pre-brew option.)

Now turn off the power for at least 5 seconds. The next time you turn the machine on, it should pre-brew the coffee.

The process worked great for me the first time, but when I wanted to program the machine to not pre-brew, I had to go through this process a couple of times. Not sure why, though. :-)

Bummer Bun

The pour-over type of Bunn coffee brewers require several pots of water to fill an empty tank.
1. While unplugged, pour in two and a half to three pots of clean water (put an empty pot underneath the brew basket). When the tank is full, water will come out of the brew basket.
2. Plug the unit in and wait for it to heat - about 5 to 7 minutes. These brewers are meant to be left plugged in all of the time to keep the tank water hot. You will probably heat some rumbling noises which is normal as the water heats.

If for some reason the water isn't hot after 10 minutes you will need to check the thermostat. Unplug the machine and take the screws out of the top. The thermostat has a little dial or a t-bar that you can turn. All the way left is off and all the way right is boiling. Turn this up about 90% of the way and put the top back on the machine and plug it in. If it gets hot, you are ready to brew. If it doesn't get hot, you may have blown the limit thermostat and will need to replace it.

The limit thermostat isn't the same as the thermostat. It is a ceramic and metal item that senses if the tank gets too hot from having the unit plugged in without any or enough water in it. It is inexpensive and relatively simple to change.
