If you are using windows 7 go into control panel, "power options", then select a power plan and use the drop downs to choose the time until the computer sleeps...you can also set this to never....it's at the bottom of the lists...hope this helps you!

SOURCE: dell inspiron 1100 turns on for a few minutes and then shuts off.

15vac is pretty normal for a laptop battery. Its likely that your laptops power inlet has malfunctioned and no longer is capable of recieving voltage. Besides, your power terminal should be getting 120vac, it's just your adaptor that reduces the voltage to 15-19 vac usuable for laptop batteries. Also your laptop computer is rather an older model, my mother has one and I've worked with it a while. Laptop batteries also don't last forever, It might be wise to move onto a better laptop.

My laptop d 600 dell just gives no signal on the monitor then gives a minute to turn off and then it shuts itself down what's wrong with it thank you

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Why does my monitor have a dull display?

not it isn't the card
go to control panel , display and personalization, click on the display , click on the monitor (1 or 2) and adjust the pixel size by sliding the knob to the desires screen size
click apply and ok
after a few minutes you may get a message saying are you happy with the setting --will revert back in 10 seconds ---you just press apply or ok and that saves the setting

I left my PC and monitor powered on and when I came back, no display.

seems simple enough, go into your computer power settings through control panel and turn off standby mode as well as hibernation. set it to be on all the time. if you're using the syncmaster i assume you're talking about a desktop computer and not a laptop, if that's the case and the syncmaster is lcd, then you don't really 'need' a screensaver but if you want it to hide your desktop while you're not there you can add a screensaver for fun :P

Laptop monitor blacks out but works fine with an external monitor

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

I m not getting any light on the power button of my monitor dell e2210.....monitor works fine but doesnt get any light on the power button

It could be the light itself has gone bad. If it's no problem, just keep using it.
If you don't have enough to keep you busy, you can take it apart and replace the LED.

If I turn on my computer the monitor works well but after a few minutes it turns off itself (it goes to the standby mode orange led lights). Then if I turn on the monitor again it works only a few seconds....

Just in case the monitor is not te problem, why don't you try this.

For (xp)
-Go to desktop
-right click and click properties.
-screen saver
-power
-then set all the drop down list box to never
-click apply.
You can try it on other operating system.
-go to controls
-look for display and follow 2nd step on xp.

Hope this help. Thank you for using Fixya!

Monitor image flashes off and on

Sounds like you've done all the trouble shooting. If you just need that extra nudge, I would agree... it sounds like you'll be needing to shop for a new monitor.

Dell E178FPf LCD monitor goes to standby and won`t come on again

Check your Power options in Windows.

right click on the desktop. select properties, Gop to the screen saver tab, click on the power button at the bottom right and check to see if its set to turn off or standby the monitor, turn this off.

Keep the screen saver on and set it for like ten minutes.

Also, on the monitor itself, it may have a sleep or power save option set as the default. check all the monitor settings on the actual moniotr itself.
