Question about LG 32LG40 32 in. LCD HDTV

TV freezes when switching to a digital channel

The TV will lock up or freeze when switching to a digital channel. It wil only happen when using the channel up or down. Not when inputting the channel. Also it is not the same channel where the issue happens.
The remote or the buttons on the side of the TV will not respond. The only way to bring the tv back is to pull the power cord.
I have the new digital Comcast set box with HDMI port. When I change from Analog channel to HD and back again, the screen has no signal and freezes. I even cannot turn the power of the TV off from the TV remote. So, I have to unplug the TV and reboot again. then it's fine. but I do the same switching back and forth from regular channels to HD channels, it freezes again.

The problem your describing can be contributed to your cable box. Depending on your cable company there are times when the box has trouble translating the signal to the tv. You tv is operating normally. Suggest to the cable company to switch your box.

My LG digital TV screen freezes on channels 2 & 10 every 7 mins for 3 secs with no sound, other channels are fine. This has been happening over the last 3 days. Why would this be happening? I'm in oz

Hi Catherine,
If your tv has some problem, this should happen on all the other channels also.
Please consult your service provider for this.

You need to boost your signal somehow, get a better antenna. nothing is wrong with the TV, this is a typical Dropout when signal is low.

Hdtv picture freeze

I also have a Brand new Sony Bravia 52" LCD with Comcast Cable (motorola box). When switching between HD Channels sometimes the left side of the screen shows a smushed version of the new channel, and the right side is a frozen picture of the previous channel. I correct this by switching to a non HD channel and back. Cable or TV problem I wonder?

Cant program digital channels.

Nothing. Digital Tuners Broke. I wouldn't be suprised if your TV freezes up momentarily (or for a long time) when you switch over to the Digital Channels.

This TV has 1 tuner for analog channels and 1 tuner for digital channels. You can probably find the Digital Tuner on Ebay and replace it.

Very odd tv problem

Digital receivers whether external to the TV (converter box, satellite) or built in are digital processors(computers). Just like computers there are times when they freeze up. This can happen if the data stream is corrupted too much to render the picture, but enough signal to lock. The processor attempts to "wait" long enough to gather enough information to begin. Just like computers, these need to be re-booted by turning on or off and sometimes unplugged and plugged in. You have either too low of signal quality or too high of signal strength, which is a problem with digital receivers.

Picture freezes on Sony Bravia 46 in

this can be a weak signal check the connections on cables. also in hot weather you can get a build up of static electricity and it will need to be discharged, turn off tv at mains and cross the connector and the cables if you have a buster or other box connected to them turn off and do the same to them. use something metal but make sure there is no power to them.

TV freezes when switching to a digital channel

Issue was with the HD channels only.
Updated the firmware of the TV to ver 2.

Now the TV will stutter for a second when changing to a HD channel but it no longer locks up.
