Well it might be a factory default problem with the board, some times when systems are not fixed properly, it come up with such issue. I will advice you take it to service centre near you so as not to void the warranty.
to get to the bios screen
turn the laptop on and at the same time hold down the delete button until the bios scree appears
you will have to get the back off to get to the battery ( 1" round and 1/8 " thick)
go to bios setup check the date and time if not corect then set date time save setting exit setup and check ..hope it will be okie..

You just set up the time in BIOS setting. To get the BIOS just press delete during your laptop is on. Go to CMOS to change the time. Use arrow key to select after that you need to save just press F10 to save settings.
Most BIOS settings can be set to the default setup by selecting default settings and save & exit, and if there isn't this option you can remove the BIOS battery for 1/2 + hour insert the BIOS battery, boot up, go into the BIOS setup and configure the BIOS date and time setting.
Right above the F4 key on Compaq nx8220 there is a button which appears to do the trick. Hopefully you found the answer by now but it was not obvious to me!
