Question about Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

I have a Kenwood Subwoofer, SW-305, S/N 00901468, that when the power is one and hooked up there is a loud buzzing sound. No audio comes out of the subwoofer. I have checked and rechecked my conections and they are correct. Can you please advise me on the possible solutions, price, and where to gain the parts to fix my subwoofer? Thank you for your help.

How to hook up a Kenwood subwoofer to a pioneer receiver

It depends on the speaker and receiver inputs/outputs. If The speakers have bare wires, and the receiver has spring clamps, you are in luck! Check out what I mean by spring clamps in the image linked below. If you can give the model number of the receiver and describe the wires coming from the subwoofer, I can help a lot more.

I have a Kenwood sw 22HT subwoofer. It will work only when I hit it from the back. Can anyone help me find out what the problem is? Thanks!

Sounds to me like a loose connection on a wire. Take it apart and just give it a good looking over. Mainly check the speaker wires and the power supply connection.

If you have a multi tester that would be helpful, but in your
case it sounds like a simple fix.

The problem is in the powered sub, the buzzing sound is caused by one or more defective audio output ic's that drive the subwoofer directly, service is the only option to remedy the situation.

Subwoofer question

Check your wires from the amp to the sub and if possible change them. If that makes no difference the powered sub or the amp have a intermittent problem, but I think it is more than likely the sub, there are probably bad solder connections that need fixing and maybe a good time to consider a repairman to take a closer look.

Problem for Kenwood VR-405. Subwoofer has no sound coming from it. Sub is set to "on" in the menu and all speakers work in test mode. I have tried hooking devices individually with RCA's and also just...

How I fixed this was to get a can of electrical contact cleaner. Any auto parts store or electronics store will carry it. Take the cover off and remove the volume knob. It's responsible for the output volume to the sub. Pry the four silver tabs open and pull apart the knob. You should see some corrosion on the contacts. Use a fingernail file to clean them off now clean it with the contact cleaner. Put it back together and you are ready to go.

How do i connect it to a the subwoffer sw 50 ht

on the back of your receiver is a subwoofer pre-out, connect one cable here, and connect the other end of this cable to your subwoofer - line level in. (depends on your subwoofer and receiver) but that's how mine is connected. yours will be similar.
