Sharp CD-BA 2650 Error code: ER-CD 11 - the CD tray will not open

I have a Sharp CD-BA2650 3 cd, two tape deck, and radio combo. Every time I try to eject the CD tray it gives the error code ER-CD 11. I cannot play CDs anymore in it. Anyone knows what this error code is and how to fix it? Your help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem but fixed it by replacing the cd belt which was broken and relined the main cd plate which holds cd to correct position . and god fixed it.

No more errors and now a great cd Hi Fi.

Make sure all s aligned and blow out all dust with an blower or air compressor.

I pull the top plates off blow air into them and replaced a broken belt for cd's and not it's new machine.

You want to fix it than fix at the source.

I have an AKAI radio/cd/tape player combo. For about a year I had to toggle the switch around a few times just to get the radio to come on, now I cannot get any sound at all with the cd or radio

Akai used to produce quality gear. Today in common with lots of premium manufacturers the gear is less repairable and a whole lot more disposable. This is because it is less "engineered" and more designed for cost-effective assembly.
Mechanical switches and potentiometers for instance, add weight and expense to the manufacture and shipping and they wear out or get dirty and don't work - but they can be replaced or cleaned relatively easily. Soft touch controls and electronic switching is cheaper to produce and more pleasing to some buyers but when they go wrong cleaning rarely works and repairs are beyond the usual scope of the hi-fi enthusiast, meaning expensive repair-shop costs. It is worth attempting to clean the switches if there is access and you feel adventurous.

It sounds as though you have nothing to lose. There is a wide selection of switch and electrical cleaners available, some with an added lubricant for mechanical switchgear and potentiometers though for some things a cotton bud or a slip of paper dipped in methylated spirit works well.

Good luck!

Drive a will not open- display shows error

I repaired a couple of these before and the problem was in the loading mechanism, under the tray there is the loading motor and a drive belt that connects it to the gears ***`y, if youre a handyman you can take it out but be careful and look how you dismantle/reassemble the tray, also look for dried up grease on the gears center hub.

How do I record from one tape deck to the other?

Put your "blank" in the deck with the record button, normally red button and press rec/play and pause at the same time, put your "origional" in the other deck and press play and pause at the same time, then un-pause both at the same time. Make sure that the hifi is set to tape as if you record tape to tape when listening to radio foe example, you will get a strange "mix tape" of your origional and the radio.

I have two different music systems, need answers for if possible,

On the no disc messages, try a cd or dvd lens cleaner which ever is appropriate for the device and also try blowing canned air inside, it can be a dirty lens.

Converting Audio Cassettes to CDs

First off I assume you have the manual for you're 5700. if not a PDF copy is here
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000027911.pdf

Assuming you have a standalone tape deck that has phono inputs and outputs connection and recording recording should be easily achieved.
Forget the coaxial unless of course your tape deck has digital outputs.
Assuming it hasn't just connect the two output sockets from the tape dec which may be labelled REC out left and REC out right to the Line in (L) and Line (R) of the CD recorder.
The physical setup is now complete.
The increment level they refer to in the manual offers you a choice of 3 final decibel output levels in other words how loud it will be when it is finally recorded onto the disc.

the last paragraph on page 16 is relevant to the setup described above.

Page 15 of your manual is all you need to achieve tape transfer to CD.
follow the steps below and choose ANALOG the source to be played is your tape deck so once the process has begun press the play button on your tape deck and you should get a decent recording. Leave everything else at their default settings until you get a better understanding of how to tweak your recordings.
Personally I transfer audio tapes directly to my PC and Audio edit them until they are perfect but I've been doing this for years.

Good luck
