The heater is attached to the propane tank properly; however, when I try to light the heater, the push valve does not allow the gas to pass to the heater to be lit. I do have all of the valves open on the...

Typically there is a safety device directly above the pilot light that must be up to temp for the gas to flow. You did not specify if the pilot is lit. If not, hold the lighter at the pilot light while depressing the button for one minute. This allows the sensor to warm to operating temp, thus allowing gas flow. Once pilot is lit adjust the temperature accordingly.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
You must press down HARD (and then turn) on the valve to turn it to the pilot position.
Let me know if this does not work and please provide a make and model number if you need more assistance.

Wall mounted 3 grate gas space heater: VIN # 41201. ser. # 1410915. Piolet light won't remain lit to be able to light grates. Also need control knob (if avail) for same model.

your pilot has dust in it. Use a drinking straw and blow air across (not into) the pilot opening. this will remove the small particles of dust that are stopping up the membrane inside the opening. THis will make your pilot flame bluer and hotter and keep the thermocouple hot enought to produce enought magnetism to hold the gas valve open.

sounds like the orfice is clogged or the pilot assembly needs cleaned ..try tapping an the assembly while it is lit see if the flame straightens up. if so clean the assembly with a tooth brush or small wire brush..good luck... let me know if it works/ joe/

I have a Desa CJ26PL Propane heater, The pilot stays on but when I turn the knob for it to come on, it goes out, what am I doing wrong?

The bar or rod that is in the pilot flame is called a thermocouple. It's probably bad and needs to be replaced. You can get it at a hardware store.
