Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router
I have an old computer that connects (wireless) to the internet through my D1-524 router and modem. I got another computer, and I cannot get a wireless connection from the same location as the old computer. When I try to connect, it asks for a network key (either WRP or WEA, if I remember correctly). How do I get such a network key?
You have enabled wep/wpa protection this is the password you need to enter.its the same as the working computerRICHARDM69

It's a DI-524 (Dee-eye). You created the network key, which is a fine thing. If you've lost track of it, you'll have to reset it to something else -- and then program both of your computers to connect with the new key.
You can probably get to the router here:
If you can log in, you can then click Wireless. Click WPA-PSK.
Pick a passphrase. You can use a sentence, even, something easy to remember, something easy to play with. Write it down and TAPE IT TO THE ROUTER, not over ventilation holes, so you never lose it again.
A good passphrase might be something that includes punctuation and isn't a common expression. You get 63 characters. Something like this might work, to give you an idea:
I hate that I lost the password, but life goes on.
Type it twice, carefully.
Then you'll have to tell both the previously working computer the password, as well as the new one.
And -write that down-. It's not the worst idea to put type everything useful (that http://192.168.0.1 address, your administration username and password, and your wireless password) into a Wordpad document, make the type very small, and print that, cut it out and tape it, being sure not to block any air holes.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
