I have a Scanjet 4370. My hard drive is almost full and I do not have room to Defrangment. Almost at the top of my list of programmes (listed according to size) are HP Image Zone 5.3 (218.00MB) and HP Imagining Device Functions 5.3 (218.00MB). Do I need both these just to operate my scanner, please ? Can I uninstall one or both of them - I also have a programme HP Scanjet 4370 (5.93 MB) I am working with Windows XP. I shall be very grateful for any help you can give me with this. Albert Mosley awmosley@ntlworld.com

HI
YES YOU CAN UNINSTALL HP IMAGEZONE.but imaging device functions Depends . .on  Do you have an HP scanner /webcam / digital camera / all in one printer ?

If you have ANY HP IMAGING device you really need it, if not, then uninstall it, BUT then when you find something stops working do not moan. Simply reinstall all the software for the device you stopped working

Yes, you need the programmes, deleting any one of them could cause problems operating the scanner. You could, however, try deleting them, and see if they have any effects on the functionality.

You can always download the latest version of the software from the HP website should anything go wrong :)

You could probably get rid of the Image Zone, but will require the Imaging Device Functions..

How do I make my computer boot up faster?

you cannot the list during boot up as that is the procedure that the bios follows so best not see it
next replace the old disc hard drive with a new solid state hard drive
next remove unwanted/ used icons from desk top
next add another strip of ram
lastly use a clean up program and then defrag the hard drive
use a good security program (kaspersky) to remove hidden virus and malware
I had a solid state drive installed and it cut the start up time to around 45 seconds from around 3 minutes

Wen I turn on PC using Windows Vista I get the warning no boot device available. What does this mean?

Hi britchel07,
I see that you are having issue booting into windows on your system.
I can help you with your concern, we can first try to boot into the Hard drive manually, follow the steps below,
1. Power your computer ON then keep on tapping the F12 key on top the keyboard until you get the Boot Menu screen,
2. On the Boot Menu screen select the Hard drive it maybe listed as SATA or HDD, but if it is not listed then we may need to try a different option, on the Boot Menu the Hard Drive should be the first one on the list.
3. Highlight the Hard Drive on the list then press Enter to make your computer boot into the Hard Drive.
if this does not work then your Hard Drive may not be detected by the machine, why I really can't tell there are many possible causes, but we can try other options to see if this can be rectified.
I believe that you have a Desktop machine, we will need to open up the tower to check if there are lose cables inside from the Hard Drive to your systems Motherboard, inside you should see a Flat Orange like red colored cable sometimes Blue that should be your SATA cable going to your Hard Drive from the Motherboard, try reseating the SATA cable to make sure it is properly connected and also check the SATA power cable just to be surem it should also be a black flat cable connected to the Hard drive just right nest to the SATA cable, after reseating the two cables try turning the computer ON again and see if the system will boot into Windows.
If still you get the Error no boot device found then you may need to get a new Hard Drive for your system.
I hope that this will be helpful with your concern, Have a nice day.

Well i just bought a dell optiplex gx620 (full tower) and im trying to install windows pro but every time i put the disk in the pc and turn it on it keeps saying that theres no bootable device...so i tryed...

From the info you supplied...

Boot (power off/on) and go into the BIOS (Usually hit F2 as it powers on and the white bar goes across the bottom for self test).
F2 will probably be listed as an option along the top (right). You only have a limited time to hit the key.

One of the menus should show what devices are connected (CD, hard drives). Make sure the system sees you're hard drive and CD-DVD. If the CD/DVD is not listed anywhere I would guess it is not installed correctly. I am not sure if the 620 will support an external USB C/DVD. This is another option and again, boot order would have to be changed.

Another menu has boot order. Make sure CD/DVD is at top of the list since you stated the drive is blank. I would make sure hard drive is second in the list. Save/Exit BIOS

Be CAREFUL MAKING any CHANGES to the BIOS.

How do I find my E drive, I could use it and see it before, now I can not see it and I have pictures on it that i want. It is my second hard drive, my C drive is fine.

It should be listed under MY COMPUTER. If it is a seperate hard drive, it should be listed under Disk Drives in DEVICE MANAGER (there will be two listings). If it is a patitioned drive, check in CONTROL PANEL, ADMIN TOOLS, COMPUTER MANAGEMENT, then DISK MANAGEMENT. It should be listed there. If it is listed, look for problems listed. If not listed, your computer does not know it exists. Check the wiring connections to the drive itself.

Error code 10-fc06-002 in toshiba a200 after running recovery disks

This is a toshiba error when running recovery discs on your machine. There are two reasons that this could occur, one would be corrupted Recovery Discs and the other is bad hardware (Hard Disk Drive).

While running a full system recovery from the Recovery Media, the installation may fail -- and display one of the error messages listed below. Possible causes of these error conditions are listed at right. Use this list as a troubleshooting guide -- not as an absolute list of causes, as there may be others.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC10-1710" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-0241" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive or defective memory.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-045D" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC06-0002" -- may be caused by damaged recovery media or faulty hard drive.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-0970" -- may be caused by defective memory.

My c drive is full but my d drive is empty. how do i start to fill up my d drive?

If your cd drive is full you should move media files like movies and music to the D drive. Just drag the files from the folders on C drive to your D drive. You should make folders on the D drive so you can keep things organized. It's critical to get a nice chunk of free space back on the C drive. If the operating system is installed on the C drive it will run slow when the drive is too full. You may also want to start archiving files on burnable media such as cd or dvd or place files on an external hard drive.

With the usb drive connected to the pc,

Open my computer, there will be a new drive listed there (ie: f: ) or something like that.. This is your usb driver.. double click on that, and in there, there should be a setup.exe file, double click that to install Arcsoft.
