Hi

The oil feed depends on the rpm of the engine.More rpm results more oil.Check the oil line, the oil filter(inside the oil tank),the gear worm and the oiler:Clean the oil way.

Drain out all the oil. You will have to have a air compressor or find some one who does. With a rag to help cover the fill hole pressure the oil chamber and push the oil valve open and try to blow out the clog.

My Stihl MS 231 is not feeding oil to the chain how do I locate the problem and repair.

The chain and bar oil should feed from the reservoir to a small hole in the bar that feeds the oil to the bottom of the chain. If that little hole gets dirt in it, the oil won't feed to the chain. To clear the problem, remove the bar, remove the chain from the bar, and clear the hole in the bar and track for the chain in the bar. I've done this while out in the woods by just using a stiff dry piece of grass to push the dirt out. Once clear, replace the chain, teeth facing the correct way, and the replace the bar, and tighten.

Why won't the oil feed to the bar and chain

Good morning Jeremy.

I have a couple of thoughts, and pardon me if any of them might seem way too obvious. Most of them are based on my own wide range of trying to figure out why my old McCulloch wasn't working :-)
  1. Is there oil in the bar/chain oil reservoir? This is the easiest one to fix, fortunately, by adding oil.
  2. Is the oil outlet to the chain/bar clogged? Will likely require some disassembly to get there. The rear gear/drive area is a natural spot for wood chips and sawdust to clump together, bound with a bit of chain oil. With enough build-up, you'll get both more drag on the drivetrain, and possibly reduced or impeded oil flow. I seem to recall there being a couple of through-holes on my McCulloch where the oil feeds in from the side, and they have been clogged solid at times. This would likely be addressed by removing the chain and blade and giving them, and the junction area, a thorough cleaning. (Remember to properly tension the chain when you re-assemble)
  3. There is an oil pump listed amongst the replacement parts for the saw on the manufacturers site http://www.poulan.com/ddoc/POUI/POUI2010_USen/POUI2010_USen__576754701.pdf It's possible that the oil pump has failed, or the oil pick-up is clogged or disconnected, in which case there will be no oil flow. See items 49-53 in the exploded part diagram.
Those are my primary thoughts. You can also see a soft copy of the manual here Poulan Pro 115327926 Instruction Manual Page 16 to look at other tips on running the saw.

I hope this helps!

Why does my electramac leaks oil

The chain oil feed is a gravity feed and will continue to feed when you put the saw down. Empty the chain oil resoivour when the machine is being stored. or store it in a driptray.

No chain oil feed

not sure if the 455 rancher is the exact same as my rancher but when the oil feed on my saw seems slow i remove the chain and bar and clean the chain grove. pay special attention to the end that is near the motor there are a couple of places that allow the oil to flow from the saw body to the chain groove and then subsequently to the chain

Blade will run for about a minute. Then locks up if i give it a minute and force the chain to move it will run for a minute the i will have to wait again

Need to make sure your oiler is working. If not the chain will get hot and expand thus locking it up from friction. There is about a 1/4" hole in the rear of the bar where the oiler feeds oil to the chain. Sometimes this hole gets filled with sawdust. Clean it out and make sure you're getting oil to the chain. When you rev the engine and the chain turns you should see it throwing a small amount of oil off the tip of the bar towards the ground. If you don't see the oil then you need to get that fixed.

Husqvarnar model no 345 oil feed problem

First thing check the feed hole through which the oil is delivered to the bar itself for debris, secondly the worm gear turning the pump shafft need only be slightly damaged to hamper full oil flow , next take the oil filler cap off, (with the bar ,chain ,bar plates, and oiler removed ) look where the oil pick up is in the case half and remove it and check for clogging and / or tears in the rubber hose,
if the cap is equipped with a breathing filler cap check make sure the cap breathes this will also hamper maximun oil flow capacity,
I stand by this , as I have dealt with product for close to 2 decades and know it intimately
